I worked at Barton G full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    Open for dinner only.
    Family meal before shift

    Cons

Everything. Terrible owner and management that only cares about sales. Complete disregard for guest experience until there's a complaint. Schedule is based on sales in a pooled house environment. The clientele attracted are horrible as well. Managers were probably stealing tips from service staff.

    Advice to Management

Treat employees like people not cattle. Put aside the egos.

    Pros

Overtime if you like it. Some might think it is slave labor.

    Cons

    Work with clowns every day

    Advice to Management

Hire Professional staff for management positions. No chance for growth.

I have been working at Barton G part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Pre-shift meals are being cooked if you start your shift early.

    Cons

I do not know where to start...from fake co-workers to inexperienced and abusive management, this wanna-be fine dining place is run worse than a fast food chain. Management makes it impossible to plan your time and does not care about it either. Threats are done against employees whenever management feels threatened by employees intelligence.

    Advice to Management

Go to management and/or business school. Take leadership courses to learn how to deal with human being beings. And most of all, do not instigate employees against each other and talk rudely to your employees in front of patrons.

I have been working at Barton G part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

They cook a pre-shift meal for employees.

    Cons

Where to begin ?! The restaurant itself is run like a high school. Management is a joke and constantly changing due to the incompetence that is hired (2nd manager since I have been working but I know its about the 4th). Most recently a server has been promoted to management but will soon be replaced. Scheduling seems to be impossible to secure a normal schedule. 2/3 of the wait staff have ZERO wine knowledge or fine dinning experience yet still are servers. I constantly overhear other waiters misinforming guest about wine and food descriptions (mostly due to their lack of fine dinning experience). Chef constantly threatens to charge you for errors made on checks / orders. Runners are rude because they are looked over for waiter promotions. Bussers are rude because they are looked over for runner promotions. The staff feels it has to do with favoritism. The restaurant also unfairly splits the tips. Servers make triple the amount as other employees even though we do far less work. For some odd reason the Host gets tips. That's right, the host makes money off your work as well. Pay Checks are days late on average. Overall the staff complains and feels it's Barton's fault but he has no idea how the monkeys are running the show.

    Advice to Management

Hire people with fine dining experience, actually read the resumes of the people you have on staff.

I have been working at Barton G full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Very good pay. Extremely creative environment. Great co-workers / friends. Great events with lots of exposure to influential people. Name recognition. Fast-paced.

    Cons

So much is happening all at once. Time management and organization are very important qualities to survive here.

    Advice to Management

I understand it's challenging to make everyone happy and maintain fluidity with so much work and so many moving parts within the company and our industry. But keep up the great work. The process is working.

    Pros

Name recognition. Some glamorous events. Some really talented people but a shocking lack of management skill.

    Cons

This is a very sketchy place to work. Turnover is very high and there are excellent reasons for that. Upper management can only be described as abusive towards subordinates. Screaming, crying, accusations, public reprimand of upper level managers, deflecting blame, and worse...all daily practices. It is an incredibly difficult environment and if you have any expectation of professionalism, this may not be for you. The job description I was hired with was not based in reality. Benefits stink.

    Advice to Management

I really don't know where to begin.

    Pros

Pay is decent when you receive a paycheck on time. People seem impressed that you work here.

    Cons

    Sketchy business practices!!!!

People are never paid on time and people don't last very long here.

    Advice to Management

Go to business school and learn how a real company should operate.

    Pros

    Cons

Sketchy at best! They say cockroaches would be the only survivors at the end of the world - if you are willing to become one of them to survive, this is the right place for you.
