Was a great company years ago

Depending on job type, compensation is great especially for Bismarck. Some roles get paid outstanding & have "golden handcuffs". Other roles, top performers leave pretty fast as they're underpaid. Has great work life balance.
Cons
Top management, lots of politics. It's a move slow, don't make changes environment. Culture was very good many years ago. People often claimed to "bleed blue" & considered it a family environment. It's been killed off sadly.

Pros
People with the pension put up with a lot. People with the 401k only don’t have to. Depending on the area, you may have a great experience, but in others it could be difficult
Cons
They seem to only hire upper level management from externally.

Pros
Great benefits - the retirement plan is phenomenal and we have great health insurance. Great cafeteria and coffee shop. Awesome group of people to work with.
Cons
Basin Electric wrote the book on how to be stuck in the past. Work from home is next to none for the sake of “community” - even though most meetings are 100% virtual now. Maternity leave can’t have a gradual return (i.e gone for 6 full weeks, 1/2 time for 12 weeks). Software is outdated. No one knows when someone leaves until they’re gone and can’t find them. Promotions & pay are based on butt-in-seat time vs. performance (which job appraisals do nothing) and HR has their hand in literally everything. Supervisors and managers that don’t have “Sr VP” tied to their position title aren’t trusted to manage their employees and make any decision on them. All for the sake of “that’s how we do things here.” No room for innovation and refuses to change, even if the job market demands the changes.

Pros
Great benefits, awesome coworkers, family environment, competitive salary, new senior management
Cons
Tends to stay with what has been working for years, instead of keeping up with the modern ways of handling employees and work environment and also work processes.

Pros
Depending your industry this can be a fairly nice paying company. If you're looking for a slower pace place to work with very good work life balance, you'll be happy. Pay is okay when compared to local alternatives.
Cons
Poor management from top down. Lots of turnover in management due to political fights it seems. Management doesn't communicate well. A lot of people try to work for life here. Talking to old timers, it seems every other decade or so a lot of people suffer with this plan as they get laid off & have to try to find a new career.

Great Benefits. Great Coworkers. A wonderful company to work for.
Cons
It's a cooperative so sometimes it feels like people who should not be there and don't pull their weight, keep staying and don't get fired no matter how many mistakes and frustration they cause.

Pros
Most people work here because of benefits and work/life balance.
Cons
A lot of bureaucracy to deal with.
