    Pros

    Great place to work. Great ownership and management. Creative place to work with training available. Positive and low stress management style.

    Cons

    Recent management changes limit advancement opportunity. Work hours are random and not given in a timely manor. Middle management is stretched too thin.

    I worked at Bass Pro Shops full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

    Prior to buying Cabelas the company was a great place. Associates were appreciated and it was like a large family.

    Cons

    After purchase of Cabelas they are just focused on profits. Now “outfitters” are not appreciated or looked at as individuals. The sense of family is gone. I worked for BPS for over 10 years, I don’t even go into the stores anymore. Another company gives in to corporate greed.

    Discount ,only the associates are great, Interior of store gorgeous

    Cons

    They are all about credit cards and getting people to sign up.. the quota on credit cards doesn’t make the job fun anymore!!

    I get to work in the greatest retail store out there. With it being the biggest,and the first there is no greater feeling than walking onto the sales floor.

    I have been working at Bass Pro Shops full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

    Great benefits for full time employees. Great discount on Bass Pro branded product. Raises at 90 days and every year after if work is deemed satisfactory. ProPlan lets you buy certain rods and guns at a real discount.

    Cons

    Everyone is now hired as part-timer, even if working full time hours, so no benefits. Local competitors will sell for less even factoring in your employee discounts No discount on guns, ammo, marine electronics or fishing reels? Better to price match with ad from local competitor, sometimes managers won't do it for you. Nobody has ever gotten the 90 day raise. The yearly raise for workers who exceed expectations is 2-3% max. Once you make good money (five years) they terminate you and replace you with people at minimum wage with no knowledge. Revolving door mentality. ProPlan is run by person who makes it hard to get appropriate paperwork unless you're on the favoured employee list. Complaining makes it more likely paperwork will get lost or the order will be scrutinized by Manager and denied for unfounded reasons.
