    Disapointing Company

    Pros

There are good people within the company

    Cons

Upper management is greedy and entrenched in a good-old-boy mentality. Bottom line the company is not a good place to be or for your career.

    Cool Job- Poor Direct Management

    Pros

Great place to work. The material is fun if you have a love for the outdoors. Pay is pretty good.

    Cons

Upper management is detached and they are still operating under the 'buddy system'.

Narrow minded and clickish upper management

    Pros

good discount, most hourly associates are nice

    Cons

Upper management mostly Male...1 to 10 to be correct and very cliskish. Not open to new ideas, sell the same stuff for years, stale merchandise, overwork and badly under pay associates, little room for advancement, horrible schedule, no proper training, bad communication

Good resume builder...but don't stick around long!

    Pros

It is a great resume builder because people love the brand. You will get great experience too because they really throw you into the fire.

    Cons

No room to advance. Pay is terrible and way below industry standard. Upper management will make you do the job of multiple people with no extra compensation. You don't feel appreciated or valued either. Terrible raises. No bonuses. Management makes you feel replaceable

    Pros

Discount Advancement opportunities (even if it's because people quit because upper level management is so incompetent.)

    Cons

Inconsistent policies from store to store. Some of the worst pay in the retail industry.

Disappointed at how far short this company falls for where it could be.

    Pros

A majority of your coworkers are great people. There is always something going on with the free activities and seminars they offer. You can find anything you want or need with all the merchandise Bass Pro Shops carries.

    Cons

It's retail work, never a set schedule and some customers are very tough to handle. The inventory and computer systems are pathetically outdated. Upper management is short sighted and out of touch with the rest of the store associates.

    Pros

There is a good work environment. Nice employee Discounts. Kind employees. The overall atmosphere of the company is fairly positive.

    Cons

The upper management is rude and is not knowledgeable. They fired multiple people and eliminated multiple positions without any notice or reasoning. Low pay.

Bass Pro Shops-a chaotic attempt at a wonderful idea.

    Pros

If you are an avid outdoorsman/outdoorswoman then you will be able to make connections throughout the industry that will land you in some of the most impressive hunting and fishing adventures that you can think of. The discounts at retail are also very impressive at 40% off of proprietary brands and 15% off of Major brands(exceptions do apply). The Corporate office also houses a great cafeteria and a gym.

    Cons

Corporate Office---Being a private company, there are no true 'retirement' options other than your 401k. Also, the Upper/Senior management does not communicate with their employees effectively. Upper management does not have a concept of deadlines. It is typical that projects are not started until upper management finalizes details two to three months past the initial deadline which creates havoc in the merchandising, marketing, and creative departments. This also creates days in which you will not be able to finish said projects within the expected deadline and therefore will find yourself working from home, going in early, staying late, and canceling vacation days due to nothing more than upper managements lack of planning. The 'Political Game' is a total nightmare. If you are not in the 'click' then divide the communication that you expect to receive in half. You will also see people abusing privileges simply because they are personally close to upper management. Training is non-existent. You will be thrown into the deep end and expected to keep your head above water. Last but not least, if you want bonus potential, it is virtually non-existent.

    Pros

This is a place to learn the basic skills of customer service and selling.

    Cons

All departments are severely understaffed but are still expected to achieve high standards. Leads are doing management work, full timers lead work, and part timers doing full time work for laughable pay and are constantly being told their work is not good enough. We have not been given the tools to succeed and each day you are expected to be belittled by upper management in either an email, verbal, or a morning huddle. If you're really lucky, all three in the same day. Upper management never comes out of their offices and you see other managers pick up the slack by pulling 16-18 hour days.
