I have been working at Bass Underwriters full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Opportunity to establish a career, where you can increase the value of your degree. This is a company that encourages you to climb the success ladder. Once you make it, then you can set the hours you want and build your own team.

    Cons

There is not really a training program. So if you don't have prior knowledge or the ability to learn on you own,Bass might not be the company for you.

    Advice to Management

Do not stop us from working over 40 hours a week

I have been working at Bass Underwriters full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Very high pace and you can gain a lot of experience if you choose to. Deal with a lot of people.

    Cons

low pay and no room for growth. Just something to put on your resume. Very overwhelming and stressful. There is absolutely no training. You will have to learn on your own.

    Advice to Management

Have some respect for your employees If you want them sticking around. Company really needs to start paying paying more or at least what other companies pay. Assistants feel unappreciated and tend to look for work somewhere else instead of staying because management will not meet their needs.

I worked at Bass Underwriters (Less than a year)

    Pros

C-level executives are great and very nice to work for. I received positive feedback and recognition fairly quickly. Good overall environment.

    Cons

Management focuses on work first...at all cost. I had a family emergency and needed to take time off, and that was not tolerated.

    Advice to Management

Advice to c-level execs, take a close look at your management team and how they prioritize (or blanace) work and family.

I worked at Bass Underwriters full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

During the course of my employment I held various positions within the company advancing and learning through the years. Initially when I first got hired the environment was amazing...like nothing I had ever experienced. For the first time in my life I was proud to tell people who my employer was.

    Cons

As the years went on the company took on a more sinister direction. Internal politics and cliques were the norm. At the end of the day I was let go because I had reached the top...I had no desire to be an underwriter so they used me for the course of my employment in various departments. I went as far as to create an employee resource database mostly on my off time too which they accepted with open arms only to let me go soon after. Once I got too expensive for them they replaced me with fresh blood.

    Advice to Management

    Get rid of your COO

I have been working at Bass Underwriters full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great work environment. Laid back and the people I work with are great. Plenty of work/life balance.

    Cons

Not paid enough and very hard to get promoted. Not nearly enough training. Large gap between the back end and underwriters.

    Advice to Management

Find a different pay structure that makes it easier to advance. Provide more training.

    Pros

Good health benefits, but to afford them you basically knock 15% off each paycheck

    Cons

This place is a joke. It is an incestuous ridiculous place to work. You're salary as an assistant is $34K a year (they will try and offer $32K) which is basically poverty. Must be related or serve 3-5 years as an assistant before promotion.. unless your a Ph.D.

    Advice to Management

    Do better.
