I worked at Batteries Plus Bulbs full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great bonuses, a lot of knowledge, fun people to work with, works with scheduling well.

    Cons

The interviewing process was very long.

    Advice to Management

Maybe on the second interview have the GM sit in so there is not a third interview with the GM.

I have been working at Batteries Plus Bulbs part-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

    Flexible Scheduling
Learn useful skills (repairing smartphones and devices, etc.)
Work can be slow, which can be good when you're working on devices
    Employee discounts are great.

    Cons

No room for improvement for full-time employees and managers.
After 5 years, only received a $1 raise. Pay was still under $10 unlike most other similar jobs.
The "spiffs" (similar to commission) are so low and inconsistent that it isn't worth the lower pay.
They care too much about how many different things you sell versus how much you sell.
    Cannot control temperature anymore.
Most locations only schedule 1 person on Sundays, so good luck using the restroom on busy days.
The corporate office cares too much about minuscule things than the big picture.
The systems used are extremely inefficient and have lots of downtime and bugs, which can be problematic for both employees and customers.

    Advice to Management

Give managers more power. The corporate office does not care about feedback, and the managers seem to be more knowledgeable about running the store than the corporate office.

I have been working at Batteries Plus Bulbs part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Flexible schedule, not much prior experience needed, good work environment for students.

    Cons

Not many promotion opportunities as advertised, prepare to get stuck at a little above minimum wage even if you have previous experience in this retail field.

    Advice to Management

Make it more worthwhile for employees to stay, so the stores don't suffer from a high turnover rate.

I worked at Batteries Plus Bulbs full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great coworkers. Convenient hours. Decent pay.

    Cons

Ridiculous corporate rules. If you come in early and clock in before scheduled time you won’t get paid for time worked.

I have been working at Batteries Plus Bulbs part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

You can learn alot about batteries and bulbs. Good retail position.

    Cons

No formal training program, if you work at a franchise there is no movement

    Advice to Management

Let Ascent work with the stores, offer programs to move up in the company, FIX the POS system

I have been working at Batteries Plus Bulbs full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

One week of paid vacation per year

    Cons

Decent pay raises to start, but don't expect to continue to make more. They'll cap you off after a two or three $.50 raises. Absolutely no room to move up. No benefits.

    Advice to Management

Stop trying to make the stores more "cooperate." People love the "mom 'n' pop" feel of the store.
