I have been working at Baxter full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great benefits and average salary .

    Cons

Not likely to be promoted from within . Most workers have a higher education than many of their supervisors and some in management !

    Advice to Management

Truth in promoting . If you promote and train people dedicated to the company instead of bringing in outsiders who are in turn trained by the people that they are hired to supervise (sic) ...it does not take a rocket scientist to conclude !

I worked at Baxter full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Fairly well paid, decent benefits. Good place to start career

    Cons

Very poor annual raises. Use "loyalty" as a way to control how much they have to spend to keep talent

    Advice to Management

Embrace the changing job market. If a new hire can work for you for two years then go to a different company for a 20% raise and a promotion, when you offer 2% a year and a promotion every 3 years, that employee will leave every single time. Also, work/life balance has to be a focus. With so many companies offering frequent work from home, benefits outside of 401K (gym memberships, etc.), and schedule flexibility, the old guard mentality will push young talent out the door.

    Pros

good benefit, 401k plan, health insurance, respectful working environment . people are nice.
    good training

    Cons

you have to know someone there in order to be hired. You have to networking with key people in order to get promoted.

    Advice to Management

don't do micro management, respect the people who work for you when there is a conflict in work situation, always find a win win solution

I worked at Baxter full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Room for promotion and advancement. If you put in long hours and fill your plate it is recognized. Lots of room for growth. Promotions happen quick but you have to be very competitive.

    Cons

No work life balance. Baxter does not create an environment that fosters life outside of work. Very competitive amongst departments and within departments. Does not foster teamwork since the environment is so competitive.

    Advice to Management

Happy employees work harder. I would encourage Management to recognize that talent needs life outside of work. Evaluate employees based on their work not how much running around they do just to keep their plate from spilling over.

I worked at Baxter (More than a year)

    Pros

Very proud to have worked for a company that makes a difference in the world. You feel good at the end of the day knowing you are making a difference. The benefit package is above average. You learn quickly based upon your engagement. If you are a great multitasker this is the place for you.

    Cons

There is favoritism amongst senior leadership. There leaders in place that will delegate their work on to you when there is more work of your own to complete. Can be a high stress position with little appreciation shown.

    Advice to Management

Leadership needs to empower and lead by example. There are good ones on the ship, on the other hand that there are two faced individuals at the helm

    Pros

Working toward a new culture of flexibility and trust.

    Cons

Slow to change, company bogged down with corporate red-tape and policies. Constant grumbling about new flexible environment from leadership - though they are forced to embrace the new culture.

    Advice to Management

New CEO working to improve culture but speaking up to change things is still considered a no no - more leadership roles need to change to fix this culture.

I worked at Baxter as an intern

    Pros

Friendly people. Good pay for area.

    Cons

Location is in the middle of nowhere near a small southern town. Employees are not open to new changes because most of them have been working there for 40 years. There isn't enough incentives for younger generations to stick around.

    Advice to Management

Be more assertive when telling people what to do. Try to make changes that will benefit the future of the company instead of doing what's easiest.
