I have been working at Baxter full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Decent amount of vacation days offered; but if you call in sick with less than 24 hour notice, you risk disciplinary action.

    Cons

Departments are running with skeleton crews and it's "great" because of the cost savings. Everything is overdue and done quickly with low/no quality.
SLT is more concerned with shutting down rumors about the negative work atmosphere than actually fixing the work atmosphere.
No double time for hourly staff; Holidays don't count towards OT; people are forced to work Holiday weekends; Some hourly staff forced to work 12 hour shifts with 12 days on/2 days.

    Advice to Management

Staff is burned out and loyalty is gone; start beefing up departments that are running bare and treat your employees better. Offer better pay to your hourly staff (at least match what local competitors offer).

I worked at Baxter full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Friendly environment, was able to meet several persons from the region and all are great persons. Our team made the difference indeed also it lets you know a lot more about the Healthcare sector. Management was very supportive. Great benefits.

    Cons

At certain departments processes are not well mapped ergo bottlenecks and overload of work often happen. This could be solved with a Kaizen approach. Work-Life balance wasn't adequate at times. Country had a lot of restrictions and external problems that affected the business outside anyone's control.

    Advice to Management

Improve communication across all levels. Ambiguity, assumptions and uncertainty wasn't well handled at times.

I have been working at Baxter full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Solid reputation! Employees pride themselves in manufacturing high quality.

    Cons

You have to be a 'favorite' to advance otherwise you're hard work is not noticed.
Leaders forget Baxter is a manufacturing company.

    Advice to Management

Take a look at the HR Award winners/nominees. Why are the same people nominated year over year? Some of the nominees put in little effort and were recognized, while the real contributors received zero recognition. Check your bias. The rest of us peasants in HR need to be recognized for our contributions too!

    Pros

Many development opportunities and great people to work with

    Cons

Management lacks expertise and direction, no innovation in manufacturing divisions

    Advice to Management

Hire the resources necessary to get the job done. There are too many projects in the works and not enough people to work on them.
