I worked at Baxter full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

It's a stable company, been around for a long time. Nice cafeteria.

    Cons

Salary is just ok. But not sufficient for a particular job you do.

    Advice to Management

Give the right amount of compensation for a particular job. It is better to raise every salary 20% in manufacturing to what it currently is.

I worked at Baxter full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Adequate health insurance, retirement planning options

    Cons

Upon reading other reviews of various Baxter sites, I see that the culture which existed at my division is the norm rather than an exception. So I will summarize what I agree with. The company is in a constant state of change leading to feelings of instability among employees. Management is not honest about potential raises or promotions. They hire at the lowest wage that "the local market can bear". This lead to an unqualified workforce impossible to train. So the trainers were constantly reprimanded when employees could not perform their assigned duties. There was a very high turnover. This also leads to an unskilled and unqualified workforce. All of this makes one draw the conclusion that Baxter does not care about customers and patients at all or they would address these problems. All they seemed to care about is cutting costs and improving the bottom line for their stockholders. The future I see based on their business ethics is that the company will rot from the inside.

    Advice to Management

Read and take heed of your criticism on this site. You will have to change your attitude towards your employees if you want them to perform up to their full potential. You will get out of them what you put in to them. Like any relationship, this is not a one way street.

    Pros

    -Flexible PTO if needed
-Start / End hours aren't too strict

    Cons

-Management that never follows through on plans/ideas
-Often demeaning to lower performing employees rather than trying to resolve their issues
-Prepare to have good work ignored and torn apart for simple mistakes
    -Kiss your weekends goodbye

    Advice to Management

Hire more people, you're killing your good workers and making everyone hate life.

    Pros

Lots of opportunities, if you're willing to move

    Cons

Management does not respect hourly employees. They always assume employees are trying to get out of work. Does not take safety seriously. Expects the safety manager to carry the load. This does not apply to all the sites.
