I have been working at Baxter full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

I've gained a lot of valuable experience. Was able to be hired right out of school and feel welcomed in the company.

    Cons

Lots of people seem to leave the company. Reorganization within the company seems to occur often. Not very good management when I first started here, but getting better.

    Advice to Management

Give recognition where it is due. Some smaller groups within the company seem to not be recognized for all they do, eventhough they are vital to the success of the company.

I worked at Baxter full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Corporate culture, great coworkers and lots of camaraderie. Plenty of learning opportunities. Sense of mission to help the world. You get to work with coworkers around the world!

    Cons

Upper management seems to be disconnected from their employees. You are expected to work a lot of hours to meet your deadlines. Management never seems to hire additional help. The company will use you up and discard you (when you burn out). No sense of accountability among the employees. And some weird food served in the cafeteria.

    Advice to Management

Get out of your offices and ask the employees what they think (not through a survey). Show appreciation to your employees. Give them recognition. People like to be rewarded for their hard work - a simple 'thank you' would do.

I worked at Baxter full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Initially had good work/life balance. Good benefits.

    Cons

Management went from having a great rapport with employees, to having no backbone, to horrible within a couple of years.

    Advice to Management

Employees are not slaves or mere cannon fodder. They are not there to serve the "masters" in upper management. I *quit* after 12 years of dedication because of poor leadership, both at an immediate level and on up the food chain.

I worked at Baxter full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

work life balance was great, office culture was good

    Cons

leadership in certain departments was horrible. Expectations were too high for the amount of responsibility they handed out. There were favorites and it showed. If you were a favorite, you would move on in the department or company, if not you moved nowhere.

    Advice to Management

Management needs to actually do the work that they are handing out for an extended period of time in the amount of hours that they require (no more) and actually see how difficult things can be.

I worked at Baxter full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great pay and benefits, 99% of coworkers very friendly and helpful, excellent training provided for all functions of the job.

    Cons

Call center, micromanagement, poor (petty) leadership in the center, prepare yourself for an unreal dose of nepotism, inconsistency, and Big Brother in this environment.

    Advice to Management

Re-evaluate the supervisors in customer service, make time to know your employees, make communication more direct instead of the trickle-down style it is now.

I worked at Baxter full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

The work we did was great. I worked with high level clients and sr leadership and was encouraged to do so on a regular basis. The technical skills I honed there were equally satisfying.

    Cons

I wasn't a good fit with the culture. I had hoped for a progressive culture and found it to be uber conservative.

    Advice to Management

    None. It works for them
