    Pros

Very well run non-profit firm. I'm confident Bay Legal will be around for years to come. It's great to have such a large organization because clients have overlapping issues. It's nice to be able to reach out to a colleague and get a quick assessment of an area of law I don't practice.

    Cons

We use some very dated technology that makes tracking out client interactions inefficient. They really need a lawyer with some IT skills to sort it all out, but that can't afford that in this market.

    Advice to Management

Make time to update computer programs and knowledge storage systems.

Great working environment and the scope to learn is tremendous! The staff is lovely and very helpful, always willing to give you new assignments if you ask and want to ensure that you get as much out of the experience as you want.

    Cons

Depending on your department sometimes the work can be slow to trickle in, but if you ask most likely they will find you something.

I worked at Bay Area Legal Aid as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

Had the opportunity to work on very interesting cases and with amazing and hardworking attorneys. As a clerk, I was given a great deal of responsibility that created a true sense of accountability in the work I did.

    Cons

I clerked in the Summer of 2011 and worked under the supervision of a great attorney. I worked 40+ hours per week and was given real work to do. I enjoyed my experience and would recommend other law students to also seek a clerkship with Bay Legal.
