I have been working at Bayer full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great policies(except maternity policy) , good work culture, good transparency. Lots of added bonuses on site. Great focus on training

    Cons

Poor maternity policy, leadership is poor, US has very limited say in global headquarters which makes decision making very difficult.

    Advice to Management

Have a way for direct interaction with upper management so that there is transparency on how your boss is treating you.

I have been working at Bayer full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Competitive salary, great benefits, on site gym, childcare facility, awesome cafeteria, recognized brands, on site clinic, employee groups for networking.

    Cons

Culture, management & people. Culture - nothing defined. Lots of talk but no action. Hypocritical. Work-life balance is better in some departments but mostly non existent in others. Continual change in management, personnel, responsibilities and procedures/policies. Can be disorganized, not actionable or simply unclear. Management & people- lots of tension from Merck merger. You are either Merck or Bayer or an outsider. Very little inclusion with each other. Bayer preaches collaboration but really it's the Marketing department that makes all the decisions. Communication is an issue. Very much top-down where you will not have any input in decision process. Lack of diversity in upper management. Lack of training and development of people. Many layers to get anything done. Cutting back on innovation. Very competitive environment so watch your back. Lastly - sales goals are unrealistic.

    Advice to Management

Invest in your people. Empower them by over communicating, developing defined procedures and creating inclusion... then follow it yourselves. Lead by example. The employees are very capable but lack initiative due to uncertainty. Make them feel valued.

    I worked at Bayer full-time

    Pros

Great people and a great office environment to work in (e.g. modern, bright, and a Starbucks in the building lobby)!

    Cons

Numbers, numbers, and more numbers... Yes, a business needs to be focused on the bottom line, but not at the expense of creativity and especially not to drive its employees crazy with process, reporting, and constant analyses of the process and reporting...
