I worked at Baylor University full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Great students. Friendly people. Excellent resources. Great benefits. Great pay. Christian environment. Academic freedom. Great sports teams. Churches are getting better. Abundant opportunities to build in-depth relationships and community. Colleagues who care about you personally and not just professionally.

    Cons

Some departments may be largely research inactive and place a lot of emphasis on external collaboration. Yearly review process in front of all departmental faculty.

I worked at Baylor University full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

I met some nice people there. I enjoyed my students. The pay and benefits were good. If you are a conservative Southern Baptist, you would probably like it there.

    Cons

It is a small minded, mean-spirited place where you have to watch your every step. It is like going in a time-warp back to the worst of the 1950's. I was actually told that "Baylor is not a place where women can speak up. If you are a woman or a minority or have socially progressive views, you will probably not like it there.
