I have been working at Baystone Media for more than a year

    Pros

Company leaders are great to learn from. General positive attitude from the team and opportunity to build sales skills and get valuable experience. Also, the products are top notch and very affordable. Very easy sell to health industry.

    Cons

Leads vary by month so their can be up and down in sales month in and out.

    Advice to Management

Develop some new areas to generate leads from to smooth out the curve.

I have been working at Baystone Media full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Relaxed dressed code. Free food once in a while. Easy to commute to.

    Cons

Pay is terrible, but the work is super easy. Management doesn't listen to concerns and the moment you speak up, you're viewed as the trouble maker and get singled out. The harder you work the more they give you. Training is terrible and you have to learn on your own. Co-workers are nice, but there is one that is super negative and makes memes about other employees behind their back. She has a folder of people's... Facebook pics to make memes. She gets away with it because shes friends with the Manager. Moral is super down. Don't expect to grow here. Everyone who has been promoted is now with a different brand. Don't even try to go over the manager's head, you'll be under a microscope and your life will be hell.

Current Employee - Client Service Representative in Downers Grove, IL

I have been working at Baystone Media full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Relatively easy, rarely do you have to deal with back to back to back inbound calls, coworkers are helpful and friendly, 50% commission on any upsells but no real pressure to do so. Management is helpful most of the time. The job stays at work

    Cons

Difficult clients at times. Dealing with the messes/half-truths/ridiculous promises that sales leave behind when they sign up clients. The pay leaves something to be desired. Raises are paltry, to say the least.

    Advice to Management

    Improve compensation for starters

I worked at Baystone Media full-time for more than a year

    Pros

The company is full of young people and the overall job is easy if you don't mind making a ton of calls. Commission for sales is fair, and can give you extra income if you put forth a bit of effort. Lots of free lunches, and also a lot of raffles.

    Cons

Management will hear your suggestions but often take months, or never get around to them. It is very clique like with the other employee's, so if you're new better try to make friends quick. Pay is low, but good if you've got nothing else and need a job. That's why there is such a high turnover rate.

    Advice to Management

Try to break up the cliquey environment and include everyone. Value and pay employee's more.

    Pros

The people are the best part of the job. It's a lot to learn at first. but you get to learn about a lot which helps down the road. The company enjoys promoting internally.

    Cons

The pay isn't the most competitive but understandable for your first job.

I worked at Baystone Media full-time for more than a year

    Pros

They try really hard to create a sense of community, often feed you, they try and keep snacks and coffee stocked, laid back dress code, and the doctors/clients aren't always bad, super easy to get through your work load, management is quick to respond for the most part when you need them

    Cons

Everyone gets way more clique-y than any other place I've worked at, middle management will pick favorites and it shows, if you aren't accustomed to working in customer service and getting screamed at and berated this might not be the job for you, disconnected with other departments, upper management seems like they want to hear your suggestions but they will go ahead with their own suggestions

    Advice to Management

    Trust your employees

I worked at Baystone Media full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Relaxed dress code, free food often, pretty easy understandable work load, management is always willing to help you learn about the content and what services we offer.

    Cons

Client service team leads have very obvious favorites, if you're not one of them, it shows. They tend to stick together with their favorites in packs, leaving other employees feeling like they're on the outs with their own management.

    Advice to Management

It's not high school, grow up and act like adults.

    Pros

Good pay and work hours. Coworkers were the best - very helpful and supportive.

    Cons

Minimal benefits and corporate did not allow for our office to make any decisions. All decisions were made from across the country in CA.

    Advice to Management

This company rose to success on their own - let them continue to proceed in that manner.

    Negative Outlook

I worked at Baystone Media full-time for more than a year

    Pros

This job is not difficult. If you are looking for a position where very few actual skills are required, and you don't mind promoting a sub-par product and dealing with micro-management, then this job is for you. Plus you get to take a 1 hour lunch every single day!

    Cons

This "Customer Service" job is actually just working at a call center. The phones are constantly ringing, and you have under a minute of down time between each call. On top of the incoming calls from clients, which never seem to end because of the promise of "Unlimited and Free Rockin' Web Support," CS reps are also expected to update websites, send emails, make outbound calls and reach a monthly ancillary sales... quota. I was verbally harassed by clients on a daily basis in this position, with some of them calling in to just scream at someone. The managers expect you to just deal with this abuse and move on to your next call. It is clear by the lack of response to this kind of common occurrence that Baystone Media does not value its employees. They only care that there is someone to answer the phone and make sales. Additionally, there is no room for professional development or promotion, so don't even think about it. PRO TIP: If you have a college degree and actually value yourself and your career, DO NOT take a job at Baystone Media. It is a black hole where you will develop nothing besides your phone experience and a dissatisfaction with your life. This is a churn and burn job, so avoid it at all costs before Baystone Media chews you up, and spits you out.

    Advice to Management

Invest in your product to provide your clients with something of value, instead of outdated, bargain-basement technology. Additionally, try not to play favorites with your team... you'll only alienate your best employees.

I have been working at Baystone Media full-time

    Pros

There are some really wonderful people to work around in the sales team and customer service team and everyone is very helpful and cheerful. Just about everyone at Baystone is young and connect very well. The company offers free food every now and then, which is always nice! The management also offers incentives and mini competitions within the sales team to help keep everyone motivated and working towards the... monthly goal.

    Cons

The sales team management makes an effort to say they want to hear about the team's opinion and often override the team's consensus with their own opinion. The micromanaging and hypocrisy within management is also near unbearable.

    Advice to Management

Listen and trust our opinion. Be available when we need you and avoid overbooking your days. Trust our ability to get our work done.
