    Pros

    Cool office, PTO, good parking

    Cons

Client Care management is untrustworthy, manipulative, and a culture killer. The team is overworked and under appreciated. This is what happens when you promote folks with no relevant management experience, or bring in your boy's club buddies even if they're a bad fit.

    Advice to Management

Survey your team about their leaders. These people are organizational poison.

I worked at Bazaarvoice (Less than a year)

    Pros

    Ability to work from home

    Cons

    - low pay
    - unrealistic expectations for new hires
    - management is just...bad
    - disorganized training, irritating/boring training videos
    - no room for advancement
    - remote employees treated very poorly

    Advice to Management

Train your managers to be less cold and more receptive to questions and concerns from trainees. Perhaps explain to them that new employees won't know everything immediately and that there is a learning curve. Treating new hires like morons when they have questions about time sheets or when they "dare" to contact tech support when their passwords isn't working doesn't exactly sell your company as employee-friendly.

I have been working at Bazaarvoice (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    Work from home position.

    Cons

This used to be a great place to work. It had a great start-up spirit. It was innovative and they treated the employees quite well. Now, not so much. All perks of the job are gone. No more unlimited vacation time, no bonuses, no birthday or anniversary bonus. Virtually no perks for the employees who are kept as part-time employees year after year. They pay is poor. They want the content analysts to have college degrees and many provide foreign language services. It is not an industry standard pay, maybe barely a minimum wage, as the employees have to pay for their own computer, internet and other home office associated costs. I have been there over 4 years and the content analysts don't even get index increases. The character per hour rating is degraded and diluted to the degree that you cannot keep up with the character per hour requirements. All communications with the in-house are negative.

    Advice to Management

Bring back unlimited vacation time. This is a part-time job, people have other jobs so it would be great if the flexibility was there. Reward people. The pay is just pathetic for what is required from the employees. Fix the software, it seems like it has never worked as planned. Fix the pay structure. The unfairness of incorrect failbacks has always been the content analysts' pet peeve.

    Advice to Management

This clearly isn't working is it? We've had a lot of CEO's and don't want more churn there, but that's not a reason to keep the one that's led the stock down to worthless is it?

    Pros

work life balance is nice. The occsional hourly bonus when there is a lot of content is nice.

    Cons

Company culture has shifted. Everyone higher up that I deal with is overworked and they have fundamental problems with CMS. More concerned with acquiring clients than supporting employees. No room for growth.

    Advice to Management

Please listen to part timers - they are the heart of what you are doing and selling to clients. Please fix the CMS.

I have been working at Bazaarvoice full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Overall the company has great culture and hires talented, smart employees. Most employees genuinely seem to enjoy coming to work every day. Benefits are great - free food, unlimited vacation, team offsite events, and wellness plans, etc. The company hosts a fun and inviting on-boarding for new hires and most are encouraged to follow their career paths within the company.

    Cons

However the finance/accounting department does not align itself with the rest of the company and has incompetent leaders. Employees of the department are belittled and heavily micromanaged due to the insecurity of senior management. The CFO is blinded by his staff as to what is going on in the department. You are encouraged to make changes and improve processes, but when you do your ideas are immediately shut down or you are asked to prove your point in so many different ways until you finally get frustrated and give up. The amount of unproductive meetings and constant fire drills is ridiculous. The workload is very poorly distributed and unmanageable. The moral of the department is horrible and most of the great employees leave within a year or so.

    Advice to Management

The finance/accounting department needs to be completely restructured with new leadership. Acknowledge the low morale and constant turnover in the finance department. Stop putting 'band-aids' on every single issue and redefining it over and over again - fix the root cause of the problem.

I worked at Bazaarvoice full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

This company has a good basis for its culture and there are a lot of perks such as a good base salary, bonus, tons of free snacks, happy hours, excess food all the time, etc... Also, vacation time is "unlimited" but be wary of this as it depends on your manager which vary greatly across department and function. It can be a lot of fun it seems if you are working in certain departments but that's where the "pro's" cease to exist.

    Cons

I am speaking only for the accounting department b/c it would seem that other areas of the company may actually be ok places to work-aka professional, fun, good work/life balance, promotion opps, etc... The management in Finance is terrible with the exception of maybe 2 people who aren't running the show so to speak. Those who are "running the show" belittle employees and ask them to do the impossible quite often including certain tasks that may question your ethical values. Time off is always granted with a caveat if it is even approved and there is one manager in particular who is particularly rude and condescending to everyone yet nobody does anything about it despite it being very obvious. Certain people work incredibly hard and others do little to nothing and make much more $$$ to boot-this is easy to figure out when the payroll files are unlocked. They will taunt you with a high salary and high promise but trust me, this is not the accounting department for you if you are expecting any form of professionalism. Highly unrecommended.

    Advice to Management

Get rid of the bad managers and hire some people who have the company's values in mind. Just because they have the right experience doesn't mean they are good people managers and this is almost more important in my opinion. Listen to the complaints being brought up and take action! People are very unhappy and you just assume they will stay out of necessity but after enough, they will finally go like the rest. Wake up

    Cons

Highly political. Inexperienced management at all levels. Very big on touting the culture but, in reality it is all just hype.

    Advice to Management

Don't know the current management. Everyone at the top is new.
