I have been working at Bazaarvoice (More than a year)

    Pros

Bazaarvoice has been making big changes, and while some of them were painful at the time, they seem to be revitalizing the company. Executive management is reorganizing but doing so with a purpose, and it will help ensure Bazaarvoice's future success.

The client care team in particular went through a period of struggle when some of the employees were taking advantage of the unlimited time off policy, or doing less than the bare minimum work required and leaving other team members to pick up the slack.

Advancement opportunities and career-pathing are taken seriously, and Bazaarvoice tends to hire outstanding people and promote based on merit. Client care now has a team who work hard and help each other on a daily basis. All levels of management really care about making sure team members have a good work/life balance and recognizing excellence. They listen to concerns and work to address them whenever possible.

Positive outlook for the company and the client care team in the future.

    Cons

The company has had some pains in the last 6-12 months with layoffs and stock prices, but good things seem to be happening in the company's future.

    Advice to Management

It's been a tough year and some of the changes were hard, but it's starting to make a difference. Infusing the company with new people who are excited to be there is having a snowball effect. Prioritizing needed changes will help to stabilize the company's direction, and your employees are the best resource for getting this done. Continue to encourage employees to strike the right balance between being proactive in building new and improved products, and being reactive to individual client concerns and needs.

I have been working at Bazaarvoice part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    work from home, flexible scheduling

    Cons

The work is boring and the pay is too low for a content analyst position. We've been promised a new pay scale for a year now and nothing. Management is beyond overbearing and will jump on you for any perceived slight. Can I just be left alone to do my job, please?

    Advice to Management

Management used to be great, complimenting excellent workers and giving rewards. Now all we get is criticism for the smallest of misgivings and any response is seen as "talking back." I dread getting emails from my manager because I know that it's going to be something ridiculous that she's nitpicking at. What happened to keeping up morale?

I have been working at Bazaarvoice (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    Work from home position.

    Cons

This used to be a great place to work. It had a great start-up spirit. It was innovative and they treated the employees quite well. Now, not so much. All perks of the job are gone. No more unlimited vacation time, no bonuses, no birthday or anniversary bonus. Virtually no perks for the employees who are kept as part-time employees year after year. They pay is poor. They want the content analysts to have college degrees and many provide foreign language services. It is not an industry standard pay, maybe barely a minimum wage, as the employees have to pay for their own computer, internet and other home office associated costs. I have been there over 4 years and the content analysts don't even get index increases. The character per hour rating is degraded and diluted to the degree that you cannot keep up with the character per hour requirements. All communications with the in-house are negative.

    Advice to Management

Bring back unlimited vacation time. This is a part-time job, people have other jobs so it would be great if the flexibility was there. Reward people. The pay is just pathetic for what is required from the employees. Fix the software, it seems like it has never worked as planned. Fix the pay structure. The unfairness of incorrect failbacks has always been the content analysts' pet peeve.

I worked at Bazaarvoice part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Bazaarvoice has an established telecommuting staff.

    Cons

The pay is extremely poor for this position. You could make as much working at the grocery store. This is labeled as an Analyst position, but there's not a whole lot of analyzing going on. It's more like a technician position. For a position that requires computer literacy, the pay is just much too low. It needs to be $15/hour minimum.

    Advice to Management

The leadership emphasized that "communication is key" in a telecommuting position, but this was not what happened in practice. They seemed to get annoyed with any communication from me (even a single email). Made me feel like I had too many questions. There were two occasions where leadership thought I had made a mistake in my work, but it turns out that I was correct. The leadership group definitely did NOT like that; they made me feel like any communication from me was talking back to them.
