    I worked at Beachbody full-time

    Pros

The company truly wants to ensure happier, healthier lives for all with their nutrition and exercise products.

    Cons

Technology lags and lack of process make it difficult to support company growth and direction.

    Advice to Management

There's a growing feel of silo's be generated. Align everyone and all departments on a singular vision.

I have been working at Beachbody full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

There are some genuinely amazing people that work at Beachbody, across the company. It's a great place to be if you are passionate about health and fitness, but you also won't feel out-of-place if it's not.

Great in-office gyms to work out in, free Shakeology bar, snacks, etc.

They had been doing some great things in Tech with clarifying job titles and career paths, etc., although the CIO trying to move everyone over to the Spotify delivery team model has pretty much been a failure.

    Cons

Company suffers from bad planning all around. Impending layoffs were just announced due to poor financial planning.

Things are particularly terrible if you work in Tech (note - not the Digital dept.), the whole dept. is on edge right now, not a great environment. Unrealistic timelines, execs that don't communicate with one another, and they tend to alienate the high performers who work hard and take their jobs seriously (they generally never last long at the company). They say we're an Agile shop, yeah that's not true. Over-reliance on contractors and consultants. Talent overall in Tech is pretty subpar.

Benefits aren't that great. 2016 bonuses weren't awarded due to poor financial performance, health insurance is insanely high, no stock options, etc.

    Advice to Management

Fix your financial forecasting. Fire your CIO, he's made too many terrible decisions. Fight to hold on to the good employees instead of letting them leave. Oh and - recognize that your company actually has some major competitors and that if you don't get your act together - you will continue to financially perform poorly.

I have been working at Beachbody full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    - Telecommuting 1 day per week
    - Gym and product access
    - Unlimited vacation
    - Schedule flexibility
    - Tuition reimbursement

    Cons

    - Continued instability (layoffs imminent)
    - Overly ambitious revenue goals that directly contributed to imminent layoffs
    - Poor executive-level decisions that have led to instability and pending layoffs
    - Contractors treated better than FTEs
    - Unrealistic project launch expectations
    - Shoot from the hip mindset of CEO
    - Management that does not treat direct reports respectfully

    Advice to Management

Stop hiring contractors without forethought to manageable growth! Leverage your FTEs instead. Leaders, treat your direct reports with respect. Stop leading with an iron thumb mindset. Ruling by fear does NOT work.

I worked at Beachbody full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

People, Product, Location (HQ), @office GYMs, Employee Discounts!, Access to most BB Supplements at the offices, Vacation time, Medical... All these wonderful things!

    Cons

There are always politics in most offices. It's hard for top leaders to keep tabs on the culture, but great leaders can. I've been through 2 rounds of lay-offs and the 2nd round got me. I loved the company, but after they got investors things changed. Sometimes profit comes before people, though you need good experienced people to keep your profit or else your alway chasing that rabbit.

    Advice to Management

Listen, Learn, Understand your vision, Act.

    I worked at Beachbody full-time

    Pros

Good work life balance, benefits and access to company products

    Cons

Nepotism! I understand hiring someone you know if they are good at their job. But this place is notorious for people being hired that suck at what they do. It is so bad that during a round of layoff's almost every person left over is a personal friend of a VP or executive they work under. The crop that is left in that building is toxic, insecure and unqualified. Also the current products this company is developing are just sub par and lack creativity. The CEO/Owner should step down and hire a real CEO if he doesn't want to lose his company.

    Advice to Management

Wake up and open your eye's. This company use to have top notch talent but now it doesn't and it is all management and HR's fault.

I have been working at Beachbody full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

70% of co-workers are really great to work with.

    Cons

Management and 'some' co-workers find it acceptable to make racial remarks and label people based on their skin color and/or political standing.

    Advice to Management

If you want professional people, act professional and be the example that you want your staff to be. If you hear staff member make a racial remark, correct them, do not go along with the racist comment.

I have been working at Beachbody full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Some of the people that work here are great company.

Smoothie bar if you can stomach the disgusting shakeology.

Unlimited vacation time for salaried employees (if they keep you around long enough to be able to use it, you also won't be paid any vacation time if terminated)

    Cons

Product launches are always a disaster.
Employee moral is usually low but now more so than ever since the company laid-off more than 20% of their US workforce.
Ceo and upper management are unintelligent and make terrible decisions.

    Advice to Management

As Shaun T would say "Find your life".

I have been working at Beachbody full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    - Free gym
    - Free Shakeology
    - Leave for 12 weeks fully paid
    - Unlimited time off
    - Salary is good, but at the cost of sacrificing culture and settling for a lacking leadership team

    Cons

    - Financially unstable (have gone through massive lay offs every couple of years)
    - Senior leadership do not value or practice the same culture standards and lead by fear
    - Rare opportunities for growth, most managers have no experience leading teams and are unaware of how to manage and mentor employees
    - Privately held company, there are no checks and balanaces; everything is grey area, there is no black and white
    - CEO has no concept of how to run a business financially, only the creative aspects, which also seem to be failing with the odd products being produced as of late

    Advice to Management

    - Teach and train your leadership/management teams to standardize the employee experience across all departments and levels - many departments go above and beyond for their employees while many others get left behind
    - Employees will leave for better culture and opportunities for growth, not the paycheck
    - Create processses and stick to them - the new normal is leading by the exception, not the rule, which is frustrating to every one of your employees
