I have been working at Bealls full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Good, friendly co-workers and some hard working people working their way up. There are some very talented individuals within the company.

    Cons

    -Extreme micromanagement
    -Unpleasant mid level managers
-Understaffed for the amount of work-at every level
-There isn't much room for movement
    -The training/onboarding is weak
-There isn't a lot of trust in the building. Many individuals in middle management are hyper focused on the negativity in areas. They are quick to get upset at people and EXTREMELY slow (or non existent) to give people credit or positive talk.
    -A toxic place to work

    Advice to Management

See cons- lots of things to address

I have been working at Bealls full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

    Employee discount

    You get a paycheck

    I need twenty more characters

If you like pounding a keyboard mindlessly, work here!

    Cons

There are so many, but these are the most important in my opinion:

Extreme micro managing within mid-level to Divisional management.

Improper training for actual job responsibilities and managing people

Distrust and resentment, this runs wild through the company in many areas from the part time hourlies to divisional management.

You can smell how old fashioned and out of touch this company is the second you walk into the building.

    Advice to Management

There are some truly talented and amazingly hard working people here. Unfortunately, they are never the ones driving the bus and end up leaving cause they are never given the chance.

Address turnover rates and stop pretending they don't exists.

    Pros

They are not a huge company.

    Cons

Full time can be 32 to 40 hours. Your hours are not set, one week you could have 40 and the following week 32.

    Advice to Management

Enforce standards. Train associates so you have people in place to promote.

I worked at Bealls part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Employees were very nic and easy to work with. Very friendly co workers

    Cons

Management cracks jokes about employees in front of them constantly. They didn't give get me an orientation until after I had been working there for over a month. Unjust managers.

    Advice to Management

Before talking to employees you should make sure they have been trained properly. Be fair and make sure ur management has done their job in training in a timely fashion. Don't punish the employees for being honest while still being respectful to all management. Respect the fact that you had an honest employee who admitted to their mistake since they they were not trained on any of the information given at meeting where they dismissed me. Do not crack jokes about your employees in their presence.

I have been working at Bealls full-time

    Pros

Privately owned so the fact the company is running in the red is not known

    Cons

Regionals and corporate are not qualified and lack any professionalism or ethics. Request associates to perform "illegal" practices. Also favoritism is rampant in upper management. No one is held to the same standards.

    Advice to Management

Oversee your regionals- they are not qualified nor are they able to follow the policies they enforce. Not reporting correctly is the same as stealing.

    Pros

Great Company with a 100 year history. Strives to do things well and treat others fairly. Unique Florida store.

    Cons

Challenging and competitive environment make control of costs a constant concern. Potential shoppers seem to be more focused on electronics and dining out, for example.

    Advice to Management

Keep managing with a long term focus and make sure that your work force is reflective of the changing demographics of the locations you serve.

    I worked at Bealls full-time

    Pros

Stable company and still privately owned

    Cons

Management doesn't want to think outside of box. Promotion is based on "looks" not depth of knowledge and experience. Keep people who should not be in their current positions too long. No opportunity for growth.

    Advice to Management

Get new upper management. They have been there way to long and don't have a deep understanding of the way the rest of the industry operates.
