I worked at Beam Global Spirits & Wine full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

$500 annual allowance for any Beam family product, monthly gifts of Beam bottles, (by-weekly/monthly) free discontinued end-of-bins bottles. (If you are drinker) you could start drinking from yearly morning (one year anniversary party with alcohol cocktails of Beam as a publicly traded company, started at 9:30 am), "thirsty Thursday". Company is cash cow.

    Cons

Because the company is the cash cow, it could hide plenty of infectiveness, waste and simply stupid decisions by management (announced a relocation on WD 3 of quarter close and let the employees go home to digest the news). You could smell alcohol at 11 am meetings.

    Advice to Management

Hope, Japanese management is what Beam needed.

I worked at Beam Global Spirits & Wine full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Was given spirits as rewards for good performance - then downsized as "did not fit in"? No description of performance problems?

    Cons

No job description - somewhat turmoil.

    Advice to Management

Solve middle management impasse - define training, objectives and goals.

I have been working at Beam Global Spirits & Wine full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

We have some great products. Hours are flexible when life happens. some fun people working there. Pay is only decent, but they do promote from within and across certain functions. Summer hours (for those who have the time to take them).

    Cons

WORK LIFE BALANCE- major imbalance for a lot of people; this company is understaffed in many departments (with no hope for filling out the staff in the near future). the "perks" of working for this liquor company really comes down to free liquor, which one can simply go to another company for higher salary and buy their own liquor (no other perks here as Beam doesn't sponsor many events or teams). The only real perk is the "cool factor" of saying you work for Jim Beam. Health benefits need a relook.

    Advice to Management

Stop acting like we are a small company. You are squeezing every last bit of energy out of your employees which will backfire in lower productivity and higher turnover rate.

I have been working at Beam Global Spirits & Wine full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Good brands; interesting categories; some great people work there; global business; company is expanding and growing in importance in industry

    Cons

I found it to be extremely political. Your success there will depend greatly on who you know, and whether that person remains in power or not.

    Advice to Management

Reward people based on their work, not on their connections.

I have been working at Beam Global Spirits & Wine full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Opportunities to get a lot of responsibilities if you are good at what you do. Specially in IT.

    Cons

IT Team is full of racial favortism and management is to blame for it. Join the IT team if you are Spanish or at leash know how to speak it. Problem with job security if you show even the slightest sign of slacking. Forget about moving up the ladder if you are not racially inclined with the management.

    Advice to Management

Treat employees of all origins equally and respectfully.
