I have been working at Beam Suntory full-time for more than a year

    Pros

    - Decent benefits with 4% 401K match, 7% profit sharing and 20 PTO days to start. - Culture is very fast paced but never becomes contentious. Even with deadlines, everyone remains very casual, friendly and collaborative. - The people are very smart and genuinely take an interest in getting to know each other. - Brands and categories are a TON of fun to work on. Especially in marketing - spirits is a very interesting category to work in. - Office is in a great location for both city and suburb commuters, with a cool open (but not too open) work space.

    Cons

    - Tendency to reorg every 6-12 months makes it hard for brands to maintain continuity and for teams that work on the brands to become true experts/stewards of the brand. - Constant fire drills when questions or suggestions come down from upper management. Often creates unnecessary work, spinning of wheels, and contradictory direction. - Working teams are very lean, meaning there is often too much work to get done during the day. But as long as you can prioritize and communicate capacity, people don't expect you to work nights/weekends. - Middle management level is very crowded, meaning it's difficult for lower level employees to see a path upward.

    Advice to Management

    - Recognize that simple questions or suggestions from you are being taken as direction and causing unnecessary fire drills. Allow teams to push back when your suggestions aren't the right thing to do for the business. - Stop reorganizing the teams so often so people can build true knowledge and connection to their brands.

I have been working at Beam Suntory full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Great benefits (401k match, profit sharing, PTO), development opportunities, flexible work life balance, company culture, and iconic brands. Can not say enough positive things about working at Beam Suntory for the past year and a half.

    Cons

    None that come to mind.

I have been working at Beam Suntory

    Pros

Work is rewarding, most teams can have a family feel.

    Cons

The work life balance is non existent. The amount of time needed to be successful is high

I have been working at Beam Suntory full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Beam is a great midsized CPG company where you can work on iconic global brands without the bureaucracy of a larger CPG company. At the same time, you get a lot of the same benefits and training that you would receive at a larger company for people embarking on a career in brand/general management.

    Cons

Sometimes we can be slower to market in terms of innovation due to our smaller size relative to competitors.

    Advice to Management

Think about ways to attract and retain the smartest people possible besides the fact that the brands are "cool" (i.e. compensation, management opportunities, etc...).

I have been working at Beam Suntory full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Iconic brands, summer hours, profit sharing, overall decent benefits

    Cons

Blatant favoritism. Incompetent HR starting at the top. All they want to do is socialize and drink but refuse to see and solve any problems.

    Advice to Management

Treat people fairly and with dignity versus promoting those who manage up to you and lie in your face. It's not complicated.

    No opinion of CEO

I worked at Beam Suntory full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Legendary brands & industry icons, global business, fair compensation & benefits.

    Cons

Disconnect between HQ & Kentucky employees, lack of official training creating a “sink or swim” mentality. Corporate environment not nearly as welcoming as the “family based” brands they own. No focus on Diversity & Inclusion though it’s always “in the works.” Serious need for D&I especially in Kentucky but leadership is slow to commit.

    Advice to Management

Pay attention to feedback from employees at every level. Celebrate diversity instead of ignoring it. Train employees on how to be successful before holding them accountable for things.

I have been working at Beam Suntory full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

The constant change can be exciting for some

    Cons

Self absorbed leaders, blatant incompetence across HR. Naive and ineffective HR leaders who are tolerating and enabling all the toxic behaviors we are subject to.

    Advice to Management

Wake up and see the reality for what it is. Stop changing your self interests all the time and focus on Growing for Good.
