Brilliant company, excellent leadership
Mar 6, 2023 - General CounselRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Leadership is engaged, supportive, and respectful.
Cons
Company could improve communication channels.
- Current Employee★★★★★
Pros
People and ideas are valued. No bureaucracy. If there is a good idea, it is relatively easy to get management approval and execute on it. Everyone is super nice, friendly and welcoming. Management is very approachable and open to feedback. Company values are lived by and the dedication to continue growing is very apparent. The work is the right amount of challenging, feedback is clear and projects move along rather efficiently. Definitely the best place I've ever worked.
Cons
Very few company-wide holidays. This doesn't detract from my experience but it stands out as something the company could definitely action easily to improve employee experience and increase competitive edge.

Pros
Decent pay and benefits, mostly good products
Cons
If you are hired onto the "correct team" you may do well at this company. Business is divided into teams by brands, you are not working for BIG unless hired to do exactly that. No clear direction or support for employees, management has no clue what they are doing and therefore are unable to support. Ambiguity is the key word for new roles, you will be hired to do multiple roles under one title. Unfortunately, you will be set up to fail unless changes are made by management.
Continue readingThank you for your feedback! We love to hear that you were happy with your pay and benefits, as well as, with our amazing hair solutions. As you know, it is a challenge to work in a growing company because there is so much work to be done and that can lead to ambiguity. We will continue supporting our team members, as you suggested, to help them achieve lasting success.

Pros
BIG listens to our concerns and opinions. They value the employees who want to put in the work. The feeling is welcoming and fun. I know I can grow if I want to and have.
Cons
We have grown so much it is hard to know everyone. More global meetings and introductions please!

Pros
There wasn't anything worth it.
Cons
Extremely volatile work environment. Catty, gossipy, and not friendly if you had any questions. Process and organization is the least of the priorities here. The fact that this business is profitable is amazing.

Thanks for your feedback! We do have some great new initiatives in the warehouse to address your concerns. The management team already introduced a path for quicker pay increases based on skill certification. Each quarter an employee will be able to increase their skills and pay. This was recently announced to the team and we hired a trainer to make this happen . You will see opportunities for pay increases in the very near future. In addition, we are committed to making BIG a great place to work and there are some costs associated with those efforts. We offer great benefits, we do Free Lunch Fridays and we do summer and holiday parties, etc. to enhance the culture of the organization. We hope that these programs and events are beneficial to all of our team members.

FUN Place to Work, Lots of Opportunities, Great Leaders, Room for Improvement
Mar 21, 2022 - Anonymous Employee in Salt Lake City, UTRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
I really love working for BIG. This company stands by great values. It's a fun place to work & provides flexibility for single parents. The CEO is a very humble man. He believes every person is a leader and contributes to the success of BIG. You will never find a CEO like him. He's awesome! There is room for growth at BIG, a lot of learning opportunities, and many departments like to hire within. Monthly lunches are provided & vending machines are available. BIG responded to Covid-19 with assurance and support. They provided the resources (mental health & WFH resources) employees needed to continue Delivering True Beauty during a global pandemic.
Cons
Just like other reviewers have mentioned…unfortunately, the company does not pay well. Paying a fair wage is a sign of respect and acknowledgment of the value of people's contributions to the business. When people are treated fairly and with respect, they will provide unparalleled levels of support and commitment to the business.

Pros
Great company. Great work. Great coworkers.
Cons
Pay is so low and way below market. You will lose good workers if you stay like this and it’s a shame! Change needs to happen immediately.
