I worked at Beauty Systems Group full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Enjoyed working with the customers that I developed.

    Cons

Managers control how much you can make by having the ability to assign accounts to their favorites.

    Advice to Management

Change the compensation to a salary/ bonus type of structure. Pay commissions on all store sales to encourage DSCs to call on independent contractors.

    Pros

I truly liked and enjoued the customers that I was calling on.

    Cons

Management has too much control over potential earnings, deciding who gets what accounts, and passes on any potential leads to their favorites! Straight commission position exclusively.

    Pros

Great field sales teams, wonderful team environment

    Cons

Executive Management has no idea who their customers are or how to market to them despite field sales constantly trying to offer feedback. Programs for field sales teams are an afterthought at best.

    Advice to Management

Listen to the people servicing your customers, they are the field sales and sales management staff. Customers are human beings not algorithms.

I worked at Beauty Systems Group full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Decent employee discount, lots of free product, and a real connection to the Beauty World, you connect with lots of wonderful people

    Cons

Definitely on the lower scale for pay and you're kind of lost in the shuffle because they're so much changing

    Advice to Management

Hey are people better and don't expect stores to run on skeleton staffs and continue to hold them responsible for so many things they cannot control along with not having the Manpower and time to achieve their goals

    Pros

    It was an easy job.

    Cons

No social life, always working. ALWAYS had overtime, could never catch a break.

    Advice to Management

Manage better so there's not as much overtime. Maybe that would help your turn over rate.

I have been working at Beauty Systems Group full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

    Benefits are good, compensation fair.

    Cons

High quality employees are terminated because they worked hard to reach a salary level that the company does not want to pay. So they label it "restructuring". Then in turn new employees are hired at a much lower salary but with that comes a much lower skill set. The end result is poor customer service and frustration among fellow employees. Management who have friends in upper management seem to be able to make continual errors and have little professionalism as long as they "take ownership" yet do nothing to improve.

    Advice to Management

Pay attention to the employees that are truly making a contribution to the business. Look past the end of your nose and maybe you will see the real picture. COMMUNICATE!!!! if the ship is going down, you might want to let your crew know rather than bury your head in the sand and pretend that you don't know anything.

I worked at Beauty Systems Group full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Many free products to sample, great customers and teammates, many product offerings, flex schedule. Good health benefits. Fun job for someone right out of college, doesn't mind a low salary and not a stressful
    Job.

    Cons

Franchise division of upper management is disconnected with sales reps . What we did 15 years ago doesn't always work in 2017. No consistent valuable training and valuable professional development opportunities in place. No opportunities for growth within divison and low pay.

    Advice to Management

Do not be so reactive and have a plan b in place when sales are not met. Do not go into panic mode and have a long term strategy. I Did one review of company in 10 years. Have them more often and it may improve co and obstacles the co faces before they happen. Do 360 reviews every year. U will
    Learn a lot!

    Pros

The vendors you will be working with are all very friendly.

    Cons

Micromanagement is a common theme among all managers/directors. Morale lacks in this company due to lack of employee recognition events.

    Advice to Management

Take time to plan fun events for the employees that work very hard for a company. Show appreciation.
