I worked at Beazer Homes (Less than a year)

    Pros

Beazer Homes greatest assets is its people. They are friendly and extraordinarily focused. Having worked in both corporate offices, it's not uncommon for team members to be found celebrating each other. The company does recognize and celebrate its employees as well.

    Cons

As with many employers keeping great talent is always a challenge. Ongoing training may be restricted by department.

    Advice to Management

Would have loved to see visible mentors or consultants who could offer training and development courses.

I have been working at Beazer Homes full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Good benefits package, great hard-working people, opportunities for advancement.

    Cons

When sales are down, it's a very negative atmosphere. Also, not a lot of vacation time is offered and there is a high turnover rate for employees (especially good ones).

    Advice to Management

It would help to provide more training to new employees rather than just throwing them in the fire right off the bat. Also everything internally is very unorganized, roles are not clearly defined, too many shared responsibilities cause things to go overlooked, etc.

I worked at Beazer Homes full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

MY managers were generally very open to input.

Great diversity in my position. Great team environment once you find a "group", both in and outside of department. Those outside of the "group" could be more difficult. Almost had a clique like feel.

    Cons

Certain managers (in my department and out) were not open to input. Likewise, there was tension and an unwillingness to cooperate throughout the company.

My ultimate reason for leaving was the general tension and failure of management to provide a promotion despite their acknowledgement of my superiority among my pears.

    Advice to Management

Encourage and promote. Create more open communication between departments.

I worked at Beazer Homes full-time

    Pros

Decent benefits, corporate office in great location , communication from CEO was fairly frequent and welcomed

    Cons

cubicle jungle, lots of office politics, silos between departments

    Advice to Management

Cultural shift to something where you were responsible for getting your work done as opposed to being tied to a cubicle would be so much better. Encourage interaction between groups in the corporate office. The field teams were so much tighter in their relationships. IT is possible to have a corporate culture that is still fun. Value the employees in that corporate office more. The people in the field are making the money - understood. But without the corporate office support, how would the money get processed, IT infrastructure work, or even sales people get trained.

    Pros

A company with great people and a laid back culture. The company was hit hard when the housing industry declined.

    Cons

There was not a lot of growth opportunity in the company. Prior legal trouble hampered the growth of the company.
