I worked at Bechtel full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

If you are on the right project you will get a chance to work with great people and get assigned to good work

    Cons

Very large company. Very easy to get sidelined if project is not the right one. Certification is almost mandatory. Rotational assignments are non existent.

    Advice to Management

Think more about young folks. Lot of dissatisfaction among the lower ranks. Younger folks have a lot of potential. Invest in skill training, rotational assignments and transparency.

I have been working at Bechtel full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

    1) Good Technical Resources
    2) Good Benefits
    3) Keeping valued employees employed as long as they are willing to relocate

    Cons

    1) STRESS!
    2) Not flexible as far working from home when needed
    3) Using technology that has been around for a while

    Advice to Management

Do not take advantage of employees during downturns within the respective industry. If you claim to be a company that values Safety as much as you do, then you should invest more time in staying competitive without requiring employees to work for free (overtime) in order to maintain schedule and make yourselves financially better off. These added stressors affect your employees life spans, overall health, and attitude when it comes to waking up every morning to go into work. There has got to be a better way to account for everyone's strengths and weaknesses while also still being able to provide for them a decent quality of life.
