I worked at Becker Professional Education full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    Salary, bonuses and benefits

    Cons

Besides financially this place is soul crushing. The first good thing was that John roselli is no longer the president which was a step in the right direction. Some verticals thrive however the healthcare vertical is a mess under the direction of the VP. Faculty is over paid and expense things like alcohol, condoms and clothes and it gets approved. The VP has no clue what he’s even paying the faculty to the point that layoffs have to happen due to not making enough profit.

    Advice to Management

Work with your employees instead of laying them off due to your mistakes with payroll or because you don’t like them as a person. It’s childish and unprofessional. Also stop hiring your friends that are not qualified for director roles

    Pros

They leave you alone to do your job as you see best.

    Cons

Sometimes there is a bit too much needless policies and procedures, as is true with most large organizations.

    Pros

ACAMS prior to being acquired by Becker an organization focused on the success of our members. See Cons section for full story.

    Cons

I am writing this review on behalf of ACAMS, which now operated by Becker Professional Education, both owned by AdTalem, formly Devry Education Group.

ACAMS was a thriving, interesting and fulfilling place to work. After Becker acquired ACAMS, the company culture completely tanked. The culture is completely unsupportive, the bottom line is the only thing that matters and they stretch you so thin that you don't have time to think. There has been a mass exodus from ACAMS since being acquired by Becker/Adtalem/Devry.

    Advice to Management

Sell ACAMS to someone else who might actually care.

    Pros

Becker was good before new management took over.

    Cons

VP eliminated a great deal of staff and replaced them with a vendor whom he/she knew and didn't question performance. Also hired a former employee from another company to assume the role, whom has no experience and did/does this person's dirty work of firing people. Not to mention, memployees makes inappropriate comments to subordinates and managers.

    Advice to Management

Don't let direct reports tell you what you want you want to hear and check and their credentials. You lost a great deal of talent because you didn't fight for them.

I have been working at Becker Professional Education full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

    - Truly great coworkers who care passionately about providing a superior CPA Review for students.
    - Awesome brand identity in the CPA industry.
    - Work life balance is good.
    - Decent benefits.

    Cons

    - Lack of resources to actually deliver enhancements that would help create a sustainable value proposition and meet upper managements expectations.
    - Lack of a strategic vision by upper management (i.e. Director, VP and President) that leads to fire fighting and infighting among business verticals.
    - Culture in the CPA vertical has changed dramatically in the 6 years that I have worked here and leadership seems unwilling or unable to address it. Leadership through fear, intimidation and bullying now rules the day. Once vibrant, engaged employees have been beaten into submission and have lost their enthusiasm.

    Advice to Management

Develop a strategic vision for the business and work to create a process to prioritize initiatives across all verticals. Get rid of your toxic leader and bring back the excitement and enthusiasm of your employees. I believe that Becker has some of the best and brightest developers, curriculum writers and support staff in the industry but they are unable to do their best work in the current environment.

I have been working at Becker Professional Education full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

-Top notch student resources and faculty

    Cons

-There is zero possibility to advance within the organization
    - Employees who work hard are not valued, no promotions given unless you look outside of the organization and move into a different role under the umbrella
    - No true training or development is given to new hires
    - Very poor compensation

    Advice to Management

There is great potential for growth and expansion, however, you need the right people in place for this. Employees who work hard are never promoted and are instead overlooked for external candidates who are not familiar with the business. This is poor decision making that hinders the growth and awareness. Why not promote within and hire once your good and qualified employees have been printed into well deserved roles? There is a severe lack of honesty. There are many employees unfamiliar with anything being sold or offered and these remain the highest paid.

I worked at Becker Professional Education full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

If you like working from home, the Becker field positions require this.

    Cons

Owned by the erstwhile Devry University, Becker is getting the squeeze. Not much upper management support for growth. Field people are not valued for their intelligence, rather are treated like cogs

    Advice to Management

    Hire a training manager
