    Pros

    - Good benefits
    - Great staff
    - Meaningful work
    - Independence
    - Flexible schedule
    - Understanding supervisor

    Cons

    - Low pay, like all of social work

    Advice to Management

Have a Becket get together more often for all offices not just for trainings.

    Negative Outlook

I worked at Becket Family Services (More than a year)

    Pros

Working with the clients are rewarding.

    Cons

The company leadership has an 'at will' mentality towards hiring and retaining staff. You are disposable, and are treated as such. Leadership has made changes without including staff. For instance, schedules were changed regardless of staff's ability to work due to family and/or children and were told that they, "should feel lucky that they have a job," and that "if they didn't like it, they could quit." This was after people were hired and reviewed availability and scheduling with multiple staff prior to these changes. Staff are asked to work long hours to cover for staff that quit, often leaving the employee tired and more vulnerable to risky situations when working with aggressive clients. Leadership creates high turnover of staff with constant restructuring and has let staff go for no reason, claiming that the employee is 'at will.'

    Advice to Management

Management is aware of their indiscretions and continue to do business this way. It is unclear if advice to management will be met with any interest or concern to improve working conditions and ultimately the care to the clients.

I worked at Becket Family Services full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

The kids are great, absolutely worth working with that population to learn somethings about yourself and how to deal with mental health issues in people.

    Cons

Terrible management from the top down. Treat employees with zero respect. If you work hard they treat you worse. I leat a management position for a new job because my supervisor was a conceded, arrogant, uselessentially employee who ensured that he never looked bad by putting every single person he worked with down. Upper management acts as dictators and then tells staff they are entitled because they don't agree to working 11 days in a row. Don't waste your time with this company. They don't pay nearly enough, the hours are absolute crap and you'll never ever have the respect of management. I put myself through it for 5 yrs, trust me, dont do it.

    Advice to Management

Learn a few things about employee retention and labor laws.

I have been working at Becket Family Services full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

This company is great. Lots of overtime, staff are great, rewarding field. Benefits are alright, lots of vacation time.

    Cons

No holiday, can be very stressful at times. Pay isn't all that great, however if you put in the work And dedication it will be worth it

    Advice to Management

Need better benefits, needs more opportunities for growth. Rather a small company so it's more difficult to move up the chain of command.

    Positive Outlook

I have been working at Becket Family Services full-time

    Pros

I didn't have much experience when I applied, but the company has provided me a ton of training (web based, internal, and external trainers) and some worthwhile certification courses. The starting pay for me was $12.00 per hour and I can usually sign up for overtime when I need some extra coin. Benefits are really good, although I don't use them all. Being sort of a life coach for people who need it, is a bonus.

    Cons

Corporate level management is great, but some middle management isn't. Some of the clients can be challenging at times, although it's usually my co-workers being dumb that sets them off.

    Advice to Management

Keep the strong pay, benefits, and training and I'll stay. If middle management was as good as the Corporate office leaders things would be so much better.

    Pros

Good compensation, good hours. Staff to client ratio is good

    Cons

Higher ups are very judgemental of lower level staff...almost act as if they are better than others. Some accept advice and ideas from staff who work directly with the clientele but others act as if their position and degree make them know more about people they haven't spent time with

    Advice to Management

Don't be snarky, rude or judgemental of people who you don't see at your level. The lowest parts of the totem pole are the ones holding up the rest

    Pros

None whatsoever. Please go work somewhere else where you will be appreciated and compensated for your hard work. This isn't the place.

    Cons

This is a very crappy company to work for. High turnover rate with low pay. Management is incompetent. They think they can fire anyone. Management turnover is high. Everytime there is new management, they hire their own staff probably to cover their own butts.
