I have been working at Beckman Coulter full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Probably the best group of people I have ever worked with, very much family like environment. My job is fun since I have to wear many hats to get things done. Amazing PTO, starting 4 weeks for hourly employees. People that worked here 10+ years get like 6 weeks!

    Cons

Problem with management, too laid back. A whole lot of corporate DBS non-sense that does not yield results. Promotions are very slow, not much motivation left to stay here or strive here for something.

    Advice to Management

Be firm but fair, your employees are NOT your friends. Being too laid back makes people lazy and careless. If you want solid results, lead your troops and have expectations and due dates.

I worked at Beckman Coulter full-time

    Pros

I enjoyed my time at Beckman-Coulter. There was always lots to do and the folks I worked with seemed to care about continuous improvement, which is great.

    Cons

Everything has to be done according to DBS tools, and they tend to get in the way of progress. DBS is a bit cumbersome and difficult to use.

I have been working at Beckman Coulter full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Meaningful work, challenging assignments, schedule flexibility, good culture and working environment, appealing of future vision and current enabling leadership. Great facilities with Beautiful outdoor areas.

    Cons

Lack of resources, constant shifting between projects, open spaces are a downside for type of jobs that require long period of concentration. Small teams with blurry role scope and responsibility boundaries.

    Advice to Management

Invest on promising talent and mentoring, provide resources to support continuous improvement. Support and enable your teams with sufficient resources to cover necessarily independent and more specialized roles.

I worked at Beckman Coulter full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Workers who have been there for a while know how to bring true value to the customer. Hopefully they will have a bigger voice in the future.

    Cons

Upper Management does not understand how to truly motivate employees. They do not understand what most "middle managers" really do, which is not just managing the people, but also working on projects themselves .

    Advice to Management

Learn what your managers actually do for the company. Listen to employee feedback as they understand what the customers need.

I worked at Beckman Coulter full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Good people, solid profitable company with quality products.

    Cons

Everything changed when the company was acquired by Danaher. Went from a great company to work for, i.e.., people friendly, family atmosphere, to a for profit only company. You will do it the Danaher way or the highway. I choose the highway!

    Advice to Management

Remember the your employees are human beings.

    Pros

easy going work environment for the most part - depending on how your manager is of course. pay is competitive.

    Cons

low on resources, being apart of Danaher they want to do a lot with very little. most people are overworked and too much is expected, you constantly feel like you're drowning. they do not value work life balance

    Advice to Management

    value your employees!

I worked at Beckman Coulter (Less than a year)

    Pros

A small business feel inside of a larger business. It was easy to contact higher ups for solutions and questions that may arise.

    Cons

There seemed to be some confusion in communication between corporate and our site. Our site needs were very different than the rest of the company, and it seemed often time these needs were over looked.
