I have been working at Beckman Coulter full-time

    Pros

The company has a high number of very knowledgeable people and has a high potential for great success. Employees have a lot to contribute and self-improve.

    Cons

    - Work and life balance is sometimes hard to maintain, but isn't this common nowadays?!
    - Dedication is needed to meet project milestones and deadlines, yet employees are required to keep up with a lot of additional training; time is a limiting factor.

I have been working at Beckman Coulter full-time

    Pros

Been working here for over 15years! BCI has its challenges like other companies but the mission to help humanity is why I'm still here. That and the opportunities to grow and be challenged professionally.

    Cons

Sometimes work/life balance will suffer. The trick is to find ways to make it work for your unique situation.

    Advice to Management

When everything is a priority then NOTHING is a priority. Focus on the critical few business challenges that will move the needle for our customers and shareholders.

I worked at Beckman Coulter full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

    paid bi weekly
insurance and benefits are about average
401k match of 4% if you contribute 5%, vested after 3 years
top performers do make good money compared to competitors
Danaher has deep pockets to in acquire new technology, which is how they grow
opportunity to move to other operating companies

    Cons

-my health insurance premiums went up 33% year over year

-I worked in the field and the problems are like no other company I have seen. Products are frequently on backorder for months leaving our clinical diagnostic customers without critical reagents they need to perform testing, and very unhappy customers. Service response time can be days or weeks. Many parts are not kept in stock to keep inventory low and this makes response time slow when a clinical testing lab is without a functioning instrument.

-Morale is low among field sales and many stay only because of the very binding NDA Danaher makes you sign. Most would jump ship quickly if offered more money. Turnover is quite high and many reps are new and still learning the system of working for a Danaher ran company. Many apps to move within the company or another operating company

-an annual engagement survey takes the pulse of things among employees but nothing seems to get fixed year to year. The same issues come up each year as pain points but no progress is made.

-the website is very difficult to use and many customers complain about being able to find products or information they need

    Pros

At least it is a paycheck

    Cons

So much disorganization and use of antiquated systems

    Advice to Management

Open your eyes and look what is going on. So many people with experience have left most of the new employees receive little to no training. Don't even know anything about the products

I have been working at Beckman Coulter full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    - relaxed environment. you can get away by not doing anything on most days. Have seen people who just came in everyday and watched youtube.
    - excellent work life balance, thats mostly because it's a sinking ship. It feels like working at a sears store thats about to close down. you get the idea. ..
    - good people on system engineering team.

    Cons

    - absolutely no clue how to do software. this is a blue collar manufacturing company.
-loudest person in the room gets away with doing whatever he wants. He changes his mind every 3 weeks, changes directions, reorganizes teams, complains about lack of progress.
    - the only way to get promoted here is to say YES to your boss at all times. You are in for a rude shock if you think you will be judged on your work.
    - boring team members, some are even depressing.
    - absolutely no cooperation across teams. all teams trying to screw each other.
    - subtle racism
    - incompetent HR

    Advice to Management

there isn't much you can do to save a sinking ship.
