I have been working at Beckman Coulter full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Great team work; people work very hard but seem to have fun doing it. The future is bright. The company is going through a transformation.

    Cons

Change is slow because of the size of the company and one must be patient.

    Advice to Management

Keep on the journey of transparency and communication. Love the town halls by Chris Riley, we should do more department ones.

    Pros

Great people! Smart, capable and fun! Excellent opportunities for advancement through Danaher Go. Outstanding community service - volunteer time off provided to associates as well as tons of charities supported. Wonderful fitness center (with fitness classes from yoga to cycling) and a yummy café. Amazing new diversity and inclusion initiative providing a new way of thinking. Great place to work!

    Cons

Large company and sometimes associates don't get the opportunity to know the leaders at the top

I have been working at Beckman Coulter full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

They do pay you something, and have benefits which are better than nothing.

    Cons

Company has an unwritten policy of not providing raises or bonuses to first year employees. Since you haven't worked there for a year, there is no possible way you could have met your performance targets, so no increase.

Company preaches and brags about hiring from within, but only if you are willing to relocate to another Beckman location, or within Danaher. Very little promotion is performed within a site. If an open position is filled internally, the job was likely not posted at all, and management has chosen who to "promote."

Positions are usually filled by outside candidates, who despite the low wages are making more than current employees, often those at higher levels. So, for new hires, that's great; but have an exit plan.

    Advice to Management

Stop preaching that integrity is everything, but then act in disingenuous ways. Don't provide an employee survey and then harass employees to complete the survey, while offering ice cream socials or other parties as an incentive to take the survey and hopefully score management higher.

Stop allowing experienced and qualified employees to leave over pay, and then replace them with a less experienced employee which you pay more than the incumbent.

Any company with a published target to keep its employee turnover below 5% annually has a problem. And that number doesn't include those fired, laid-off, retiring, or moving to another position within the Danaher world.

    Pros

    Good people. Some opportunitues

    Cons

Running us lean. Feel like I cant breathe everytime I am at work.

Ever since Danaher acquired Microscan, we've been overworked. We do not replace those weve fired or retired. We lack the appropriate resources and they just load us up with more to do.

Ive also noticed less and less emphasis on quality. The company is primarily focused on releasing product ontime/early and prefer shortcuts as long as deadlines are met.

The salary is also subpar. Especially considering I've been here 15 plus years. You pick up new responsibilities and work with no positive returns. No promotion opportunities, movement.

I have been working at Beckman Coulter full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great people and PTO. Good experience and flexibility to learn new things.

    Cons

Under Danaher umbrella Microscan became very lean, in product and employees. Good employees are leaving left and right and management is not doing jack about it. Corporation and VPs preach about retaining employees and hiring within, then I see new employees hired with much greater pay than those that have done a great job here for years.
HR does not even keep up with the current economy, new talent cannot thrive or even start a life here in Sacramento at their current pay rate.
Communicating with senior management all the way to VP is pointless! No one listens and no one cares until everything is falling apart.
Production equipment is outdated decades ago and is not replaced until critical failures occur, then company pays out the rear for rentals and requests emergency funding and implementing costing much more than if it was replaced at appropriate intervals.
Short staffed all the time, list of projects keeps growing like a tumor yet no one else is hired and a lot of people are retiring soon.

    Advice to Management

Open your eyes! Roll back your sleeves and do your job!
