I have been working at Beckman Coulter full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

great place to start career as you learn a lot in a short amount of time
Personal: I like what I do there and I have a good manager (see last pro).
the Danaher umbrella (the training received, support, principles, etc.)
If you have a good direct manager it will make a WORLD of difference for your career at Beckman (can be a pro or con??)

    Cons

this company is very very very cliquey, and they will be mean to you if they feel you do not fit in. At least for my department, this negative aspect of the culture can be from the top down. This company would get 1 in acceptance and creating a positive work environment for everyone.
somewhat bureaucratic, but it really depends on the department/team your in.
Hard to get promoted, and structure gets a little weird as you go up because of the different promotion tracks.

    Advice to Management

I believe with Danaher Beckman is on the right track. However, you have a current issue with exclusion, some "bullying", and lack of sensitivity. I believe the upper management needs more training in the areas of acceptance, creating a positive work environment, and whistle-blowing when it comes to even seeing others being harassed and/or bullied (company-wide training).

    Pros

Global reach. Danaher focus on best practice. Reward high performers. Meritocracy. Looking to improve processes and tools. Growing company meaning growing opportunities.

    Cons

Relentless focus on non critical metrics. Little opportunity for any autonomy or creativity. Stifles risk taking even though leadership believes culture encourages it.

    Advice to Management

    Balance

I worked at Beckman Coulter full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Great if you want to make money. Unlimited overtime. Great team. Most guys help you out. Good support structure. Company car.

    Cons

Unlimited overtime. No worklife balance. High volume of calls. "Guaranteed same day service if called in before 5." Demanding customers. Sales sells instruments, you have to get it into lab at all cost even if no presite or if customer is ready. Low base pay compared to other companies.

    Advice to Management

Better communication with engineers. Don't make promises you can't keep. If you say your giving bonuses don't say you didn't get one and not provide a reason.

I worked at Beckman Coulter full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Good team to work with. We were collaborative and a close knit group. On call was not bad. There was a good system that followed the sun.

    Cons

Salary offered was lower than market rate. Constant training on company policy was too much. Infrastructure was old and unsupported.

    Pros

Reliable company, very useful products and very interesting jobs. Many positions.

    Cons

Very few job opportunities for Temps, even when they are used for more than five years average. They don't appreciate their workers in general and they have terrible management in some areas.

    Advice to Management
