    Pros

Company has many career opportunities if you are very ambitious

    Cons

No work-life balance. Company wants you to work 60+ hours per week and be available via email at all times.

    Advice to Management

Stretch goals only work so long. People stop trying when they realize there is no way out of the red.

    Pros

There are good compensations and benefits

    Cons

Few opportunities to grow professionally. Locally do not apply 100% policies that apply globally. The feedback from employees in the evaluations that the company does to measure the engagment is little valued.

    Advice to Management

    Strongly monitor non-US branches

    Pros

Scenic location. Most people are nice to work with. There are genuine efforts made to boost morale. Good work/life balance.

    Cons

QA engineers requirements can be overly burdensome and inconsistent.

QMS and procedures difficult to follow and can be contradictory. Multiple forms and procedures needed for tasks.

Some people do and say what they want without consequence and there are a lot of useless people who have been there a long time in senior positions. Entire focus of site seems to be on cost-cutting.

New ideas and opinions can be dismissed.

    Advice to Management

Simplify systems. Less emphasis on cost-cutting measures. Get rid of the useless people.

I worked at Beckman Coulter full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Worked with some great people. The HR team was great until it was taken over by people from Miami that didn't seem to know what they were doing and didn't care about the people.

    Cons

The company was great prior to the split between Dx and LS. After the departure of Scott and the turnover of almost the entire leadership team, we were left with an inexperienced, awkward President who didn't care about the people. There were layoffs every year to pay for the next year's strategic plan. It was very short sighted in nature and every Thursday during the fall you were left wondering if you were going to have a job when you went in. Everyone will be on the list at some point.

    Advice to Management

Don't preach that you care about the people. You only care about the numbers and the bottom line. You drove out many of the good people. If you have a hope of keeping the rest, get some competent leadership and HR in there.

I worked at Beckman Coulter full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Tons of great coworkers. Great benefits offered when I was there. Lots of employee perks. Good cafeteria, bank on site, gym on site, employee discounts/tickets....

    Cons

Nothing too terrible. Some very good longterm employees end up getting laid-off due to outsourcing and/or restructuring. A few employees promoted when they shouldn't have been. But nothing that doesn't happen in any large corp.
