I worked at Bed Bath & Beyond part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    discount, flexible hours, great leadership

    Cons

no real movement within the company. The same people get rotated around(department managers) but never just a regular employees.

    Advice to Management

Allow everyone equal rights to advance. If you know your going to have the same position for years how are you going to show the same energy day in and day out.

I worked at Bed Bath & Beyond full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Created some good relationships with coworkers. The clients were great as they were typically older or new bridal couples. Some of the district staff was very helpful and willing to work beside you.

    Cons

They have no clue how to manage people. HR is a complete joke and have no idea what they are doing. The district staff has no idea how to manage the managers as 100 employees could quit and say they are quitting because of a specific manager and the district staff will do nothing. They will fire you without any write ups but will let some employees get away with anything(very two faced). Like I said management and HR are a COMPLETE joke and have no idea what they are doing. There is no plan for you and no way for you to move up as they don't have a clue how to manage you or your career. Getting time off is like pulling teeth. Turnover rate is extremely high! When you're hired they make it sound good but as soon as your in they are completely different.

    Advice to Management

Try teaching your managers how to be managers. Get educated HR people who actually know how to run an HR department. Don't just promote within, hire some new blood from the outside so you have new ideas come into your company!

I have been working at Bed Bath & Beyond full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

There used to be a lot of pros, but currently the only one is that I am able to pay my bills due to still being employed with them.

    Cons

•Extremely High Turnover - Associates and Management
    •Disgruntled Employees
•Stressed out and over worked senior management (ASM's & SM's)
    •Moral is in the trash
•High workload, not enough hours or employees to complete tasks given.
    •Positivity is non-existent.
•Constant reprimanding and negative feedback for not completely tasks but not given hours or bodies to do so.
    •Everything is micromanaged.

    Advice to Management

Advise to corporate, regional staff and district staff -Change your ways or you will lose all of your seasoned and hard working people. You already have begun to. Take a peak at your turnover in management all the way down to your part time associates.

I worked at Bed Bath & Beyond full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

20 % discount on anything in store. Employee incentive items every month available at discounted prices. People I worked with.

    Cons

Hours expectations. Shifts varied. One day closing the store getting out at 11:30 pm the next day opening the store at 6 am. Not a lot of store openings in the area. This made promotions almost impossible unless a fellow manager quit.

    Advice to Management

Show your employees you care for them and appreciate their hard work.

    Pros

Most of my co-workers were pleasant and had a team oriented attitude.

    Cons

The management was a complete train wreck, little to no communication, poor time control and GM was a rude and condescending person.

    Advice to Management

Put John in charge, Scott at #177 is not a nice person nor is he proficient at communication or time management.

I have been working at Bed Bath & Beyond full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Customer service is top priority. We take care of our customers no matter what.

    Cons

Not enough hours to complete the job the way they want it. No hourly associate is allowed more than 25 hours because of benefits regulations. This makes creating reliable and knowledgeable associates extremely difficult. You can't be awesome at a job when you barely have time to get your feet wet.

    Advice to Management

Don't be so tight with hour allocation. You have to spend money to make money and your store associates are the ones that really make you that money. If floor associates do nothing but sell there has to be a support staff to merchandise, recover, and perform all other processes.
