I worked at Bed Bath & Beyond full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Company is very diverse in its hiring practice and pays well for managers they want. The opportunity to help employees with great skills to find better opportunity is high. Great job for ex-military first job but not career.

    Cons

The company doesn't develop managers correctly and is very nepotistic in nature, along with a "good-ol-boy" system. Managers from the outside are forced to work at the lower levels to understand the "store mentality". This creates animosity among the employees who have worked decades and have received very little wage increases. Clicks are very key to the company's operations, "Hardside vs Softside". Communities are allowed to infiltrate the stores and place political/social pressures on managers abilities to higher the best for companies needs. Mobility in the company is forced or else. Territories do not uphold agreements made in other territories. Wages are not consistent throughout the company and are based on territories performance (???) or the feelings of the store/territory managers i.e. feudalistic operations, not the corner mercantile mentality. A lot of people issues are handled poorly due to lack of leadership training/mentoring/wall management. Ex-military will have issues with poor leadership.

    Advice to Management

    See Cons.

I have been working at Bed Bath & Beyond part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great fellow associates, great discounts, fun times, easy to learn (when they actually train you... but you will probably have to train yourself)

    Cons

The company talks a lot about great customer service but really does nothing for the the people who run their stores. If ur looking to move up or even get so much as a 20 cent raise it won't happen.. I've been able to work soft/ hard side alone, be a bridal/ pack and hold consultant, and work cashier/customer service all in one shift just moved around, but being knowledgeable and working your hardest doesn't really matter here. They start their new employees at higher rates than some of us that have worked for the company for 3-8 years. That's just wrong.

    Advice to Management

My advice to management would be to care more about their employees who have seniority And practice what they preach

I have been working at Bed Bath & Beyond full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

For the most part the people all want to have a good time while they're working and helping customers. The company seems to be working to upgrade the technology to be more up to date with the other companies out there. The health benefits are decent if you can wait long enough to get onto a full time position.

    Cons

You can flip a burger for the same money I make and not be asked to do the random tasks at any given moment. The management is very inconsistent with its directions, leading to constant miscommunication issues.

    Advice to Management

Pick a clear path to follow and get all of your managers on board. Change the hiring wage to one that's competitive for the current market to lower the turnover rate.

I worked at Bed Bath & Beyond full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Salary is more than competitive. Management is very cohesive and flexible with family life. They really focus on your personal development.

    Cons

None. The experience was fantastic and one of the best retail experiences I have had after nearly 15 years in the industry.

    Advice to Management

    Keep up the great work!

I worked at Bed Bath & Beyond part-time

    Pros

you get first pick on as is merch and sales, flexible hours

    Cons

Rudest customers you will ever work with. Recurring issues such as employees calling out, showing up late, missing barcodes, dealing with trash all day (including the customers) and management has little to no idea on how to resolve them.

    Advice to Management

Find another company before this one crumbles to the ground, most likely in the next 5 years
