I worked at Bed Bath & Beyond full-time

    Pros

    -Fast Pace
    -Teamwork
    -Family Enviorment
    -Opportunity to grow
    -Employee discount 20% storewide
    -Entertaining customers

    Cons

Overall the company is a lot of fun to work for. My only complaint would be Low Pay and scheduling.

    *LOW PAY
For example: if you start as a entry level employee and move your way up in the company to management you will get paid the bare mimimum, compared to a manager thats hired in, from another company.
They tend to hire outside managers who have never worked for the company before. The problem is, they will get paid much more than the person who worked their way up. A lot of times what happens is all the work load falls on the low paid manager with more experience in the company. The higher paid manager who doesn't know the company as well just sit's back and collects the check. It can hurt the morale when this is done.

Scheduling: They really need a format for scheduling. It would be very helpful if people received a set schedule. Every week having a different schedule can be exhausting.

    Advice to Management

Overall, all the manager's I had were very hardworking and helpful. The only manager's who ever had a hard time, were the one's they hired from outside sources who didn't understand the culture of the brand.

I worked at Bed Bath & Beyond full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Business casual dress code, well-known company, benefits (health, vision, dental, stocks, life insurance), convenient location, quiet, friendly company culture, always expanding

    Cons

Not a lot of opportunities for growth, it takes a long time to get promoted (if you ever do because they keep hiring people from outside the company)

    Pros

Management was really nice and flexible. Willing to work with your availability.

    Cons

Training wasn't the best when it came to transitioning from cashier to sales floor associate. They just kind of threw me out there with customers.

I worked at Bed Bath & Beyond part-time

    Pros

    employee discount was ok

learned a lot about customer service

some managers/department leads/coworkers etc. were nice to work with

if you've never worked retail there's a lot to learn

not too bad to work at in small doses (i.e. as a part time job on the side)

in receiving, plenty of hours are there if you want them

    Cons

aren't told what job you're actually working until orientation

borderline-to-outright impossible expectations thus many other employees and managers are rather stressed out

    sometimes rude customers

chronically understaffed while cutting everyone's hours and hiring several new people at the same time to keep up with the high turnover

way too much backstock and thus working freight is a nightmare

unfair workload; some people have to break their backs (such as working in time-sensitive areas like receiving and/or replenishment) while others can work at their own leisurely pace... all for the same amount of pay

it can be downright impossible to move up in the company; be prepared to wave your free time bye-bye if you plan to do so

computers/register software is way outdated, counter-intuitive and confusing

early mornings; not a good place to work if you're a night owl

they're petty if you aren't able to leave 2 week notice if/when you quit

    Advice to Management

be a bit more realistic/understanding with some of these expectations.
