I worked at Bed Bath & Beyond full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

There are some good people working in the local and corporate office. Casual dress code.

    Cons

30 Year Old Sales Practices and Greed, Struggling to Survive in Modern World. Where do I start? Greed mostly. Poor management. Lack of communication, lack of organization. Failure to respond to modern changes in sales industry. Poor pay scale. Health insurance is ridiculously expensive due to average age of employees. Worst of all - dishonesty and manipulation towards customers as well as employees.

    Advice to Management

Advice is directed towards upper management: Executive Director in CA office should focus solely on sales. This individual does not know how to manage, train, or respect their team. The dishonesty and greediness has their entire team in unmotivated disarray. Embrace and strive to understand and utilize modern tools - social media, etc - to your advantage. Offer more competitive pay to employees. Recognize and acknowledge the value of your employees. I'm referring to the non-sales employees who do most of the work. Explore new avenues to create sales growth. Recognize and acknowledge the very poor reputation the company has earned over the last few years, and take steps to correct that before it does irreparable damage: hire an image consultant, full-time, to address customer concerns and work toward finding solutions, with an overall focus on rebuilding the Harbor brand.

I worked at Bed Bath & Beyond part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Everyone there seemed like a family, which was nice because it was very easy to have someone help you if you needed it.

    Cons

But everyone being so close was at times a bad thing. Before you know it everyone is into your business and talking. Then rumors start. It would be nice if everyone had the ability to keep it a little more professional

    Advice to Management

When I worked there, it was like two sides of people. There were the associates and the managers. The managers didn't know how to properly interact and lead the associates and the associates did not and probably still do not appreciate how they are treated by the management. My advice is there should be some boundaries set for managers and you should encourage the employees to bring up complaints.

I worked at Bed Bath & Beyond full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

There are no "pros" to working at BBBY, other than a paycheck.

    Cons

Bed, Bath & Beyond is a joke. This is the most unprofessional company on the planet! If you want a real career, where you can grow and make a difference, then BBBY is the absolute LAST place you should apply for a job.

    Advice to Management

Consider holding an "upward evaluation" where every employee completes an anonymous evaluation for their immediate supervisor. Take the time to actually READ the results. You will be shocked.
