Pros
Great students and parents are easy to communicate with.
Cons
You will NOT be compensated for your time. There is NO work/life balance. You are bullied into things that are a waste of time. If you have an issue and you speak on it, the whole building is aware the next day.

Cons
Kids are missing foundational skills because the teachers at almost every level lack the intelligence, knowledge, and passion to drive student achievement. Way too many people with unclear roles. Fire 25% and then pay the people who actually do something more. Leadership is extremely rude, I clearly remember people being told to shut up at a meeting, and then threatening them in a "joking" manner. Leadership team is completely clueless and are there based on being grandfathered into their roles. Teacher roles change at a whim, regardless of their experience and knowledge of whatever new role they are randomly shuffled into. Disorganized and disrespectful. Not sure if HR department has common sense, let alone knowledge of OSHA or any other state legislature or worker's rights. Again, teachers of skill heavy subjects (math and ELA) are completely incompetent and leave kids with major gaps that will become harder to close as they age.

Pros
I interviewed with Bedford Stuyvesant New Beginnings Charter school and found the process to be thorough and very straight forward about the expectations for the teaching position. The morale of the school is positive and everyone I have interacted with has a similar goal, "student success." The team I am currently on is very dedicated, and we are all open to advice and tips from one another, as a new teacher to the school these are great qualities to have on a team! The administration is very "tight," and it is evident that they are in constant communication with one another. So far the school year has been amazing, and the future seems promising. As a teacher who has taught for two years, I would highly recommend employment for Bedford Stuyvesant New Beginnings Charter School.
Cons
There are no cons for this school. The students that Bedford Stuyvesant New Beginnings Charter School serve are from a low-socioeconomic environment. Researching the area to ensure it is a community you would like to serve would be beneficial.

Pros
As a teacher of 13 years, I have had the opportunity to work at a few schools. I must say by far, BSNBCS is the best school I have had the opportunity to work in. If it was not for me changing locations, I would have never left. The principal, Ms. Brown, not only helped turn the school around with her effective leadership; she was fair and honest. As a teacher here, I felt extremely supported and did not just feel like another body in the building. Scholars were always put first; I was able to really get to know my students in this school. The past three years here, I not only learned and grew as an educator, but I was part of a great team !
Cons
There are many floors, so more accessibility to elevators.

Pros
This year's lower school administration has done a good job of using data to drive instruction. The students have more opportunities to learn through differentiated teaching practices. Academics have become priority and student growth is apparent.
Cons
The hours are very long. Teachers are expected to give up a lot of their own time and money for the students. Administration often gives teachers last minute deadlines with little time to complete. The school culture team is understaffed.

Thank you for taking the time to provide such quality feedback. It is good to hear that the administration has done such a great job to use data in its instructional development. Offering quality differentiation to meet the needs of our scholars is of vital importance to ensuring each student is able to learn and progress. The school leadership is very open to providing additional funds for needed materials for the classroom and to improve the learning environment. Please feel free to engage with the Directors of the Lower and Middle Schools to address this issue. Thank you for you feedback regarding the understaffed culture team. We agree! To meet to address this shortage, we actually grew the team over the summer to meet the needs of both the lower school and the middle school!
