I have been working at Belden full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    - fast paced and results oriented

    - results are what matter. if you get things done and deliver then you will be rewarded.

    - lots of work on developing sales teams and sales careers with the new program called Aspire.

    - data drives decisions. coming up with a solution looking for a problem doesn't get time here.

    Cons

    - sometimes the pace of change and the speed of the business makes people feel uncomfortable and so those that don't work well in that environment just complain...

    - its hard to learn about career opportunities in other business units and you don't hear much about what is going on outside your own area.

    Advice to Management

    - make career opportunities in other business units more accessible so that people can apply and get noticed

    - share more communication on what is happening in other area of the company so that we can spot opportunities to get involved.

I have been working at Belden full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

If you work hard at Belden, you will get rewarded. Just as any company, it is not perfect. Depending on your position, you make work long hours. In sales, the schedule is not that bad.

    Cons

Very little diversity within the company. During my tenure at Belden, there has been a high turnover of senior management.

    Advice to Management

Listen to your employees especially those that have been here for a while. The employees know the day to day rigors, and can provide the best insight as to what needs to be improved.

I have been working at Belden full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

The laid back atmosphere and teamwork are some of the best reasons to come in everyday. Work is fast paced and challenging . Customer base and territories are vast and you get to develop relationships with them. Better benefits than most employers in our town . Good hours that let you manage work and home life balance.

    Cons

No bonus or commission for inside sales, difficult to move departments . Enjoyment of your job seems to vary greatly by department . Very minimal pay raises. Always buying new companies and adding their product line to the job duties with no additional pay or workforce. Can be hard to keep up with.

    Advice to Management

Acknowledge jobs well done, create incentive or bonus program for inside sales that would align with outside sales success since they work as a support team. Include random spots in the annual executive club trip that would reward blue collar workers too.

I worked at Belden as an intern (More than a year)

    Pros

Great training, excellent people, plethora of resources available to succeed. Really liked my mentors/bosses and still keep in touch to this day.

    Cons

Just wasn't passionate about the industry. If you are a big fan of wire and cable, this is a good fit. Excellent support system behind you to succeed.

I worked at Belden as an intern

    Pros

Meaningful work, great support, solid pay, actual experience with upper-level management and a great location (Carmel) made this internship an extremely enjoyable and rewarding experience.

    Cons

The biggest con was the review process completed at the end of the year. It was set up in a way that took a lot of time and didn't allow for individuals with great presentation skills to shine and use them.
