I worked at Belkin full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Location! In silicone beach Playa Vista, CA. Beautiful campus, architecture, and landscaping. There's a park across the street and a hiking trail nearby so if you're trying to live a healthy lifestyle, this is a good place. Plenty of tech companies near by (Facebook, Google, Yahoo, YouTube, etc) There's a small locker room and showers on campus. The work environment is modern and there's plenty of workspace for their employees. Cafe is great! There are plenty of workstations and places to hang out to make a phone call or just to work in a quite location for little while with your laptop. Pay and benefits are decent if you're luck enough to get hired as a salary employee. Good work/life balance if you work there long enough. People are friendly.

    Cons

LAYOFFS!! Turnaround rate is high. No chance of progress someone looking to build their careers. It's a good stepping stone for the next job. It's a lot slower pace than a traditional agency as far as Creative and the Brand team. There's no accountability so you'll see a lot of push back on deadlines and the work is far from inspirational. I guess it's a good place for sales and product management but everyone else is expendable if revenue is not met (which is hardly has been the last few years) which means layoffs, layoffs and more layoffs. Chet sold the company so he's good to go but everyone else was left behind to fend for ourselves.

    Advice to Management

Go out of business. Let someone else take the reigns and clean house so they can run a great company and hire good hardworking employees who are happy to be there.

I worked at Belkin full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

If you are in Sales or Product Management, you could have a future. Great place to learn how to not do business. Some good workers who try hard, but end up running in circles trying to please confused management.

    Cons

Other than sales and pm, no career, no future. Plenty of work and long hours, but no recognition or advancement. Talentless management with nothing to pass along. Terrible people skills and HR has no clue or desire to deal with real issues. People in key roles are friends of the former owner, Chet, with no credentials to support their role. Knowledge, experience, and education play no role in your future here. Dangerous to outshine management, which is not difficult. Great place to be if you have no desire to every progress in your career. Company uses vague criteria for paying bonus to allow them to never give full bonus. Evaluations are bogus as HR allows managers to lower scores to meet financial goals.

    Advice to Management

Unfortunately, it is too late for Belkin management to listen to good advice. If you are ever hired again, maybe you should listen to people that know what they are talking about. Since Belkin acquired Linksys, company has consistently declined in performance. Quite a tribute to the former owner Chet, who was unilaterally in charge of all decisions made. His new role of employee should help remaining workers as he no longer will be able to make disastrous decisions without oversight from his managers.
