A fantastic employer who always looks out for the employees.

    Pros

Executive staff is extremely generous. Management is fair and honest. Aggressive protocols so you're able to use your skills. Generous bonuses and incentives. Fantastic benefits, including an unprecedented 6% dollar for dollar 401k match. Opportunities for advancement outside of running calls - i. e. dispatch, marketing, billing maintenance, etc...

    Cons

Sometimes you'll have long nights with little rest, however this is to be expected at a busy private ambulance service.

    Pros

Newer equipment. Special events. Large amount of patient contact in a short period of time.

    Cons

If you're not friends with Val or the dispatchers, you won't be treated well. Those that suck up to the higher ups will get better assignments, more special events, and more sleep. If you just do your job well, work hard, and provide good patient care, that won't be enough. If you praise dispatchers and supervisors while providing minimally competent care, you'll be treated like an EMS god. The paramedics will treat the BLS crews like minions, will complain every time they are asked to help out, and will view most calls as beneath them. You will be expected to ask nicely for bathroom breaks, meal breaks, and anything else you need, and will frequently be told no. Talk to existing employees, they're angry, miserable, and burned out. The dollar or two more you might make at Bell doesn't compensate for the horrible employee morale. After 11 years of full time EMS, I can tell you there are far better companies to work for the pay a little less, and try to keep their employees happy. I now work in private EMS outside Milwaukee County. I average 3-5 calls per shift. I'm on my 4th raise in two years. My company treats everything with respect. The owner runs calls with us and responds on-call when things get busy. We don't ASK for meal breaks or to run errands, we TELL dispatch we're available by phone and just go where we want as long as we're in our response area. When we get called to our base, we don't think "Oh no, I'm in trouble," we just wonder what errand or call they need us to do. There is SO MUCH BETTER LIFE at other places, you would have to be insane to work at Bell for the couple of dollars they throw at you (along with your pink slip, write-ups and reprimands).
