I worked at Bell Flavors & Fragrances full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Benefits, PTO, history, people, flexible environment, and just a good place to be overall. I only left to be closer to home.

    Cons

The family ties can be too binding and interfere with with operation. Can be stuck in time with some things like dress code, etc.

    Advice to Management

    Consider leadership outside the company

I worked at Bell Flavors & Fragrances as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

The staff was very friendly and willing to be open to work with you. They tried to teach you as much as you could in different areas of expertise.

    Cons

Sometimes there would be downtime where there was nothing for you to do which could get boring.

I worked at Bell Flavors & Fragrances full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Paycheck, insurance, free coffee in lunchroom, uniforms provided, open bar at X-mas party.

    Cons

They pitch "life work balance," but I never received it.

They used to have the "family business" feeling, but are becoming the corporate beast all workers despise.

After my last year, working too many hours of OT without being "asked" to do it, but rather told...I hit a burnout point. They'll work you to death if you let them.

The production workers, being the backbone of the company profit, are looked down on by anyone that doesn't get dirty for a living there.

The job you're hired into is the job you'll have for the rest of your life there.

    Advice to Management

Don't promote supervisors for vested time. Promote due to skill set. You've lost a lot of good workers from this, as well as bad behavior of supervisors towards employees. Lucky you didn't get sued due to certain individuals' behaviors.

I worked at Bell Flavors & Fragrances full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

All the departments seem to have one goal, to satisfy the customer. As far as time off, it could be more in a shorter time. The company is expanding very rapidly and there is a greater chance for advancement. With the family atmosphere there is always the opportunity to work with employees to meet the needs of their familys

    Cons

With the growth comes some negatives. Some of the communication between departments has been lost. There is a greater pressure to accomplish more in the same amount of time without additional compensation or employee time.
