I have been working at Bellagio full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

Money is ok not great. It keeps going down every year. (Tips)

    Cons

So many angry customers. You'll get called every name in the book. Management doesn't care how the customers treat you. We complained over and over and over about some of the players who are excessively rude and mean but nothing ever happens.

I have been working at Bellagio full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

Free food, uniforms and don't have to worry about thinking.

    Cons

    1. Poor hiring They raised the starting pay to 18/hr and instituted a simulation test that every officer has to pass on a yearly basis. The company said that it will help improve the quality of people that are hired. The opposite happened and they quality of people that are coming through the doors has gotten worse and worse. At one point, the department was staffed with experienced people that could handle any situation thrown at them. Now we are a department of blubbering idiots that need to ask how to do the simplest of tasks. I get that Security is a bottom of the barrel job but that doesn't mean you have to hire special needs kids. 2. Management Ever since I've worked there this place has been plagued by bad management. From Supervisors having romances with their employees and hooking them up with favorable posts, supervisors who hide in the control room until the VP and Director go home, then refuse to leave the office, to a racist manager who was only fired after ignoring a bomb threat despite the numerous employee complaints against him. This same manager performed CPR on a person who was alive and breathing then made his employee lie about it in the incident report. Another manager refused to leave the office and threw her supervisors and employees under the bus any time she screwed up. She even tried to get an employee fired after she lost a set of keys that opens every door in the building! The current Director has made racist comments to employees and regularly berates employees in front of guests and other employees. All of this has taken place under the inept leadership of the VP of Security. He likes to shakes hands and fist bump his employees but has no clue what happens in his own department. Employees constantly talk about unionizing but no one wants to start it for fear of retaliation (a common tactic used against employees. 3. Retaliation Point out a flaw in the department policies or make your supervisor/manager look silly (not hard to do by the way)? We can't have that. Looks like you'll be working at the worst possible post all week. Question a write up that was done out of spite? You're pulled off of reports/mobile driver/monitor room. Word spreads that you are talking union? Don't worry, you'll be set up and a way will be found to get rid of you. 4. No room for growth Say you have a lot of experience, excel at your job and are depended on by your department. At any other job that seems like someone you'd want to promote. Not so at the Bellagio. Only inexperienced Officers that lick the boots management will get promoted. Anyone who shows signs of independent thought or intelligence has no hope for moving up in the department. The higher ups would rather have someone they can easily control and are no threat to their job. The VP seems to favor night shift officers because promotions only come from that shift.

I worked at Bellagio full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

Free employee parking, the employee garage is disgusting filled with trash.

    Cons

Employees are overworked and underpaid. Most of the incompetence comes from Corporate Executives that are clueless when it comes to property level workloads and customer trends. This used to be a good company to work for but has been on a steady decline over recent years. Employees are so stressed they rarely make eye contact and have headphones on to block out the reality of working there. The little management remaining, after MGM 2020 eliminations, have indecisive paralysis for fear of being terminated. There is little to no opportunity for advancement due to job eliminations. The company would like to replace everyone with technology. The WOW factor is that anyone will still be working there. Schizophrenic company culture, always changing whatever direction the wind is blowing.
