I worked at Bellevue Hospital Center full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Opportunity to work with persons of various concerns and social stressors. People who need care, and mostly appreciate the care you provide.

    Cons

Politics and nepotism. High burnout rate for people who come to work for those communities in need. May not feel immediately; maybe 1 year in.

    Pros

Great benefits and union allows your job security. After some time and time accumulated, job allows days off when have emergency. Great place to gain experience when starting a career in healthcare.

    Cons

Always short staff. When people get exposed to the flow of the hospital they leave. It is a fast moving place. Always on your feet and hours are needed for overtime always.

I have been working at Bellevue Hospital Center full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

You learn so much as there's a lot of opportunities on the floor. RNs are mostly very helpful and willing to teach. Salary is only average. Health benefits average. Work environment average.

    Cons

Management is out of touch with the floor nurses. Little to none support from management. Always short staff. The staff bathrooms are gross.

    Advice to Management

Increase RN to patient ratio. Replace better quality patient care staff who have the passion to work and help the patients timely. A lot of patients care have been working in this hospital for too long and they lack the motivation to work.

I have been working at Bellevue Hospital Center full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Job security. Pension. That's about it.

    Cons

The system protects employees who are inappropriate, sometimes wildly so, and villainizes those who would call them out for the safety of all. I've known several staff members who have been hurt, harassed, and abused, and it has happened to me.

    Advice to Management

Well, where to begin? At least fill all the lines with full-time, properly paid and qualified staff so there can be some semblance of safety.

    Negative Outlook

I worked at Bellevue Hospital Center full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Serving the health needs of a very underserved population. Good benefits.

    Cons

Poor work - life balance. Too many employees who are lacking competency for the position they occupy due to inappropriate advancement and promotion.

    Advice to Management

Greater transparency and honesty is necessary. Too much nepotism in promoting workers which causes more comptenant staff feeling unappreciated, causing them to leave.
