    Positive Outlook

I worked at Belltower Books part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great resume builder - as a Campus Captain I was able to be the manager of my own team and had a direct role in shaping the outcome of buyback each semester.

My Regional Manager gave me the opportunity to test out various marketing strategies and allowed me the flexibility to work when I went, where I want.

    Cons

Some of the buyers I managed didn't work very hard, and as a result their performance suffered - they complained at the end of the season because they didn't earn very much. The concept is pretty simple though - you get OUT what you put IN to your work, so if you make an effort and put yourself out there it's really easy to make money.

I'm hoping Belltower hires some more motivated buyers this season so we can knock it out of the park!

    Advice to Management

    Keep up the great work!

I have been working at Belltower Books part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The company is overall amazing. They offer an alternative to the extremely low book buy back prices of the book store. It provides connivence, purchasing of ALL books, and higher buy back prices.

    Cons

Employees work 100% off of commission and often requires a huge commitment to make a good paycheck.

    Advice to Management

Give employees higher commissions and bonus opportunities this can create more motivation and allow for more financial gain of the workers.

    Pros

A flexible schedule, great staff who helps you along with buyback, and very clear goals make belltower a great work experience.

    Cons

It takes a long time to receive payment. There is a designated end of buyback season when you receive compensation based on work done, no money is payed weekly/monthly.

    Advice to Management

Perhaps find a way to pay employees weekly or monthly instead of all at once towards the end of the season. I feel this would greatly help college buyers and attract more employees.

    Pros

The pay for the job is completely based on how hard the employee works. The employee can work whatever hours he or she desires. The company structure makes promotions easy to obtain; simply coming back for a following semester raises the commission rate. The buying process is easy to understand and easy to market. Regional directors are very helpful and easy to reach.

    Cons

The company textbook database is not entirely complete or accurate. It is possible to buy a book back for the wrong price, and the negotiations involved with this are tedious and time-consuming.

    Advice to Management

Update the database in order to prevent buying errors.
