I worked at Beloit College part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Progressive, diverse, and inclusive campus where students of all types can be comfortable.

    Cons

Slightly limited student body limits potential opportunities, but this is to be expected of a small private college.

    Advice to Management

Try to divert a little more focus to student needs over institutional needs.

I have been working at Beloit College part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Caring environment, very personal, easy communication, lots of training

    Cons

Didn't get to schedule own hours, and those hours were often long

    Advice to Management

Be more lenient toward scheduling workers' own hours. As long as they get the work done, it makes sense to let them work on their own schedule in this instance.

I have been working at Beloit College part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Beloit College is committed to helping its students lead fulfilling lives through emphasis on the values of a liberal-arts education

    Cons

The only drawback to working at Beloit College is its relatively small number of employees, and limited endowment size

I worked at Beloit College full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Flexible, great liberal arts focus, a lot of student contact.

    Cons

Low paying and lack of benefits for younger professionals.

    Advice to Management

Provide Masters and PhD opportunities for administration (tuition remission).

I worked at Beloit College part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The staff is very easy to get along with and I never butted heads with anyone during my time there as an IT worker. The pay was average for what one would expect as a student worker. Hours were flexible and employers were understanding when hours needed to be switched. As an extra bonus the buildings and the campus itself is beautiful and small in size.

    Cons

I would have liked the pay to be a little more, but then again I was only a part-time student worker. If one is working as a student worker they will usually push the more physically-demanding jobs onto you, at least in the IT department.

    Advice to Management

The employees are fantastic, the campus is wonderful, and I hope you keep doing what you are doing.

Wonderful staff, great leadership, solid benefits, salary increases each year. Lots of flexibility and work-life balance getting better.

    Cons

Salary increases minimal. Benefit charges are really high.

    Pros

Great atmosphere, outstanding co-workers, lots of experience to gain. Very rewarding, especially when the results of your actions are obviously life changing events for those involved. I'll always remember my time there fondly and highly recommended it to anyone considering employment there.

    Cons

Typical bureaucracy found in any university or college or corporation. Those passing down policies and procedures to the Department don't always understand that what looks good to them on paper can not always work in practice.

    Advice to Management

Security management wasn't an issue really. My advice to the decision makers upstairs (VPs, etc) is to LISTEN to what Officers and their management is telling you. They are out there getting their hands dirty every day and night, some for 15+ years. At the very least take what they say into consideration or even ask occasionally for input. They are the voices of experience doing the job, listening to what they have to say is wisdom.

I worked at Beloit College part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Good hours, pays better than most campus job. Gives you relevant skills for your resume. You get to sit a desk and feel important.

    Cons

The woman who runs the office is terrible. Her focus should be accommodating students with disabilities. This is not her priority.

    Advice to Management

More input from Teresa. She is a wonderful person and would be far better for assisting students with special needs.
