I have been working at Bemidji State University part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

I worked at the library on campus for two years and love the people I work with. Great way to learn how to research properly and in your downtime you can work on homework.

    Cons

Sometimes there isn't much to do, but that's not always a bad thing.

    Advice to Management

Communicate with the students more and ask what they want for improvements.

I worked at Bemidji State University part-time

    Pros

Work on campus is close to everything, friendly bosses, fun environment. I worked in the Res. Halls and got free room + board, which helped keep costs down.

    Cons

I think working at your university is smart because it keeps you on campus, but I was definitely on campus a lot. Near too much considering I worked there all 4 years.

    Advice to Management

Management is great! Resident Hall Directors have been doing what they've been doing for a long time and understand how to handle constant turn over.

You get a lot of opportunities with future employers because they like the fact that you are a tutor and it looks good on you resume.

    Cons

I really didn't have any complaints as the job had met all my needs and wants for a part time college student.

    Advice to Management

I don't have any advice as I was able to do what I wanted freely with no problems or drama whatsoever.

I worked at Bemidji State University (More than a year)

    Pros

BSU has excellent leadership and is a good organizatoin to work for. They are especially dedicated to advancing your career and seeking personal improvement. Lots of opportunities to participate in community-wide initiatives.

    Cons

This university works within the parameters of labor unions. This can be quite destructive and creates "classes" of individuals on a statewide level, however, leadership at BSU strives to break down these barriers.

    Advice to Management

    Keep going a great job.
