    I worked at Bemis full-time

    Pros

    - Great people. It's refreshing to work somewhere where people enjoy coming to work.
    - Free sodas/coffee/snacks, often free lunch. I probably got free lunch 1-2 a week.
    - Able to move laterally to new departments, job shadow, and learn new skills within the company.
    - Flextime, based on your supervisor.
    - Great work/life balance.

    Cons

    - Weird division of departments make projects grind to a halt due to bureaucracy. This is made worse as some plants used different methods of organization.
    - Sharing R&D time with production planning. On one hand: great, you know your project will run well on real equipment. On the other, your ability to run a project is completely tied to who you know, who you can bribe with food, and the whims of the production manager. Get a pilot plant.

    Advice to Management

Get your plant managers, engineering segment leaders, and business segment leaders together in a room and plan concurrently. Have your segment leaders explain what their needs and timetables are, and have the managers lay out what their capabilities are.

    Get more pilot planning capabilities.

I have been working at Bemis full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

People are great, lots of opportunity for an engineer to be hands on and make a difference. Good pay, good production metric-based incentives.

    Cons

Management isn't well connected to what is going on in the factory. Corporate management doesn't seem to know what is going on.

I worked at Bemis full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Very competitive Salaries, I had timely reviews with healthy and consistent raises. Very good health and dental benefits as well as a flexible spending plan. Excellent profit sharing and you were vested after 3 years. Left company in 2002

    Cons

Overtime you were expected to stay if needed with very little notice. This was the norm not the exception. But, even as a salaried employee you were paid overtime. I believe now all employers are required to do this but that was not the law in early 2000.

    Advice to Management

Be considerate of employees time, it is more valuable than money to some of us. Be honest with deadlines, if the job is going to require someone to come in on the weekend to meet the deadline- make sure someone is willing to before making the promise

Bemis Innovation Center is an amazing environment to work at. Brand new building with terrific resources. Felt like a full-time employee and worked on innovative and purposeful projects throughout co-op.

    Cons

Sometimes difficult to track the proper information or to know which person is the expert on a certain thing. You have to ask your contacts for advice and for people recommendations a lot.

I worked at Bemis full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

great hours with a 2,2,3 schedule and very relaxed atmosphere. Great career if interested in one and many jobs are skilled labor. Non-Union which keeps 3rd party people from taking unnecessary money from peoples hard earned paychecks. Friendly management for the most part. If on days, you get to enjoy all of your days off. Air conditioned which is abnormal for production facility.

    Cons

Very relaxed atmosphere as many employees have no sense of urgency. Because many jobs are skilled labor it makes it hard to hire from off the streets and keep good employees. Some employees are younger and seems like are only here for the paycheck while others work their butts off. If on night shift then most of the first day off is spent sleeping and they really should throw in some kind of rotation. Thought about going into management as they had an opening but know that on days off the supervisors have to go in or stay over and that kills part of their day off and they don't even get paid for it.

    Advice to Management

Try to keep the veteran employees as long as they can and show them they are needed and necessary.
