Good company if you're into the semiconductor industry.

Not a great company to work for otherwise. The engineering team has very little say when it comes to choosing projects.

    Advice to Management

Put more power in the hands of the engineers.

I have been working at Benchmark Electronics full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

No accountability. No set hours. Take all the time off you want. If you can just not care its perfect.

    Cons

Management's head is severely placed in its backside. Internal bickering and politics dominate everything rather than data. Favoritism runs rampant. Company likes to talk about improvement, but never implements or achieves it. Middle managers are all above their head often placed in areas where they lack technical expertise. Upper management views this as a "teaching opportunity". Employees suffer. No accountability. Absentee Management in some areas as some managers are taking nearly 30 days off per year even though company policy is 10-15. Hourly workers forced to work mandatory OT while managers get to spend time with family or in company potlucks. Two buidings cause us/them dynamic that destroys teamwork. Horrible work/life balance. HR is no help. Healthcare benefits below standard in CA. Many have turned down for Covered California.

    Advice to Management

Clean house. The core is rotten. Sometimes the dog won't hunt. You have to know when to take Old Yeller outback for the house's own good.

    Negative Outlook

I worked at Benchmark Electronics full-time

    Pros

Employees are very hard workers. There are not many pros about this company currently. A few years back this was an amazing company.

    Cons

Managers are allowed to verbally abuse you. HR does nothing about it. Not much room for advancement. They have been through 5 GM's in the last 1 1/2. They have managers in positions they are not qualified to be in. Very high turn over since Tom Dineen is no longer GM. No one wants to work for the upper management there.

    Advice to Management

CEO or GM should take a trip there and talk to the employees or look at the HR files on his management team.
