Pros
The company creates innovative and fun new products. The quality of the products is excellent comparing to other prestige lines I choose Benefit even after I try other competitors. There are also great employee discounts and gratis which makes you able to wear the product and own it. The brand is true to their DNA which is a fun and girlfriend feel environment. Structure and rewarding pay.
Cons
At times there are unfair goals that are set for employees and stores are required to hit. Get ready to work your tale off - you must have a very high work ethic to keep up with the entrepreneurial type positions in this company. At high level management you will be required to be available 24/7 and work well over 40 hours.

Pros
Loved working with my AE and really love Benefit as a brand. Always staying up to date on new products and definitely felt supported when I wanted training or had more questions.
Cons
At the time, there wasn't an abundance of hours in my city so I had to travel a lot which I did not like and because I did not get paid gas/miles which was ridiculous. Unfortunately, they had to cut freelancers once covid hit in 2020 which is why I don't work with them anymore. Plus, my AE got laid off as well.

Toxic, horrible people
Jul 16, 2022 - Cosmetic Counter Manager in SydneyRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
We used to get commission regardless of how much we made, company now has changed the rules to hitting the target. Twice a year you get product allowance, the higher the position the more products you can get. Great training on brows and products before Covid hit since everything went virtual after that. Met some really great co-workers and bonded well. Great experience with customers to create long- term relationships. Worked really hard and got career progression from brow expert to second in charge and into counter manager within the 4 years.
Cons
Horrible management, talk to you as if you are child rather than a professional colleague. They dress us like 5 year olds and expect us to sell their cheap quality products that attract more children because they think we are a candy store. Constantly pressuring you to upsell your repeated customers that come to the brow bar every month. Repeatedly torment and question your skills if you didn’t hit their unrealistic target. Keep cutting hours and expect us to do everything with no support. Unprofessional, no training on managerial skills. Give you the excuse of ‘it ll come with age’ Incentives were only given out to the top CBD stores while our suburban stores were forgotten. There was only negative feedback and management never dealt with raised concerns, leaving you to deal with it yourself. Mentally draining, would call even after work hours or before work hours- even on sick leave/ annual leave. Had no boundaries with people’s lives. Favouritism from management so ‘whistle blower’ never felt protected. Could never come and raise concerns as they would get ignored, especially if they were on their favourite people doing the wrong thing. Unfair pay- was paid the same as the second in charge even though I was a manager and when confronted, they gave me the excuse of ‘we just wanted to give you the experience because we didn’t feel like you were ready to be manager’ - a very unprofessional response from them. But I had all the responsibilities and pressure on me. Only had one Christmas event party within the 4 years working for them.

targets targets targets
Jan 10, 2022 - brow expert in Belfast, Northern IrelandRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
You get extra commission for every brow you do which is great and also product up selling creates more commission for yourself.
Cons
Targets are far too high and impossible to achieve in quiet season. Benefit expects you to pull customers out of nowhere and try and make them spend nothing less than £100 per shop and not everyone has that kind of money but it is the employees fault if standards and targets are not met.

Pros
Every six months me you get a make up allowance mine was £150 I think for part time and it’s £200 for full time. So for me that was around 5/6 products every 6 months depending on what I chose. You also receive a free product whenever they launch something new. 2% commission for every product you sell (if it isn’t stolen off of you)
Cons
As mentioned you receive 2% commission but at many counters the person training to be the assistant or whoever did the books in the end would steal commission off of you and put it on there own sheet. Several ways of doing it. They also used to do till checks and if you forgot to put something on your sheet to say you sold it. They would write it on there own and make out they stole it. Management does nothing about it. Traffic stopping is another pain. You are constantly pushed to go out and stop people and bring them back. I get that it’s part of the job and you’re told this when you apply but it is typically used as a form of punishment by management. Clicky groups, working with a team of all girls can get catty. They used to single girls out that they thought were the weaker ones or quieter ones and say nasty things about them and leave them out of the group. I only worked part time and I’m sharp with my answers so nothing was said to me. But it happened on several benefit counters.

Avoid!!! If you want to enjoy a job do not work for benefit cosmetics!
Sep 4, 2018 - Anonymous EmployeeRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
There are not any pros other than 2% commission on products in HOF.. if you are brow trained you get more Free starter kit Allocation Free product on new launches
Cons
No work life balance, days off are not together, you can work 9 days in a row, managers are patronising and treat you like a slave. The business is incredibly pushy with high targets of £500 per day even when the store is busy and the footfall is not there, you are sent to traffic stop in the shop and outside of it’s not busy inside, Benefit are the toddlers of the beauty hall! Such an immature brand that isn’t taken seriously with managers that are too young to know what they are doing. Very stressful job and most girls who work there are miserable. You have to force people to buy products and “stock pile” to intimidate customers into buying products. Managers steal sales!! No room for progression as it’s impossible to meet targets and move onto passport to progress within the industry. Full of false promises

Product turn over is too quick for the tourist coming back to re-purchase a favorite that no longer exists.

Fun brand to work for however unrealistic expectations
Dec 12, 2021 - Beauty Advisor in Gatwick, EnglandRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
- Fun brand to work for big team! - Amazing products which I genuinely love - Amazing benefits with product allocation! - Useful training resources on app - Motivated Team - Commission is great
Cons
- unrealistic expectations with targets considering I was only part time 2 days my figures were being compared to full time staff 4-5 days a week…. - I didn’t feel as included in the incentive competitions as I was only part time so I would never be able to compare to their figures so therefore it was unfair on me. - I was being blamed for low figures when their stock was very low during my shifts so it wasn’t my fault and was being blamed for having distractions around me. Which was not the case when there were hardly any shades in stock of most products which would reflect on my figures. - Unfair working arrangements around Christmas
