      Going from great to good.

      Aug 3, 2014 - Territory Representative

      Pros

it was the pension plan, but it is no more. It was the chance to excel at your job and be compensated accordingly, but no more. It was the time when your opinion was valued, but no more. It was the time when paint people ran this company, but no more.

      Cons

Coping with the panic that seems to exist at the senior management level. Working six days a week is no longer sufficient, now it's work on Sunday every week if that what it takes. Who wants to live like that? ( result of instant telecommunications , CRM and excessive promotions)

Toxic Work Environment - worked in HQ for 10+ years

Mar 28, 2018 - Former Employee in Montvale, NJ

      Pros

HQ Office is beautiful and in a great location. Free lunch is a nice perk. Good benefits. Annual increased for exempt employees.

      Cons

Leadership and senior management is sneaky and not transparent whatsoever. Leadership and senior management is also very unapproachable and patronizing. Very little respect displayed towards middle managers and below. A severe US and THEM environment created by Leadership & Senior Leadership. Had a couple of very toxic direct reports that made working there on a day to day basis extremely difficult. Despite requests made to my management and HR to assist me with managing these employees the support was never provided. Moving on from Benjamin Moore was the most refreshing experience I have had in my career. Cannot believe I stayed there as long as I did. Dysfunction Junction.

SAP Implementation is a mess at Benjamin Moore

Sep 25, 2016 - Senior Business Management in Montvale, NJ

      Business Outlook

      Pros

Being part of Berkshire is a big pro hoping that senior management beyond Benjamin Moore will intervene and fix the mess before it affects business and revenues.

      Cons

SAP project is in a state of mess. Go ask the business senior management and they can tell you. It high time we seek outside help to fix the problems we are facing with the SAP implementation. IT believes that they are doing great but the business is suffering because of SAP. This notion is primarily due to misleading IT management and their efforts to paint a glory picture to the CEO and beyond.

      80 / 20 rule

      Pros

Good intentions but need to get all senior managers on board and working together. Nice company to learn how to do things well and how not to do things.

      Cons

Here they go again in IT and the cruel management style. Senior management it is time to do something about this department because it hurts us all. Hold people accountable for their actions and those of their teams.

Career growth? Maybe if you are senior management

Jun 9, 2015 - Accounting in Montvale, NJ
      Recommend
      CEO Approval
      Business Outlook

      Pros

Reasonable hours; Free lunch if you are a full-time employee.

      Cons

Promotions/career growth reserved for senior management employees. Company has reasonable hours as there isn't any incentive or motivation to stay past 4 or 5 p.m. Great for people looking to sharpen their skills and then bounce within 1-2 years to a better career opportunity elsewhere. Company's strategy to bring in new talent versus promoting from within will ultimately fail as the revolving doors are lubed and the "new talent" leave for other opportunities elsewhere while the "old talent" were let go and pushed out to vacate spots for the new talent. Workload is distributed among remaining employees that do the work of 3-4 people in exchange for a Brand Ambassador award for excellence.

      Good company, great people

      Aug 5, 2014 - AREA SALES MANAGER

      Business Outlook

      Pros

Well recognized brand and good quality products, great colleagues in the market, good conditions (salary, expenses, etc)

      Cons

Many changes in the senior leadership in the last 3 years resulted in many good and experienced employees being let go and unexperienced employees with lack of knowledge of our industry and network being hired and repeating mistakes that were solved in the past years... Senior management and program developers do not ask field people for their input and do not take advantage of their experience and knowledge so many mistakes are made. Programs and pricing structure are very complicated - it is difficult to do business with us

My overall impression is of a company that has no faith in its front line people and does not provide quality tools.

      Pros

I believe management is usually honest and intends to do what they say.

      Cons

Management does not listen to front line employees or is unable to communicate with senior management.

It's too late for the positive reviews that all posted on July 31, 2014

      Pros

Nothing really. Benjamin Moore WAS a great company to work for prior to June 2012. Maybe having management as your babysitter and micro-managing every move is a "Pro". If you are into that kind of thing.

      Cons

EVERYTHING! Haven't heard anything positive yet with the new changes implemented from the system, restructurings, to management & Senior Management - Ha! What a joke and embarrassment to have this employer on your resume.

      Pros

Free lunch, great brand that sells itself, financially stable.

      Cons

Politics, promotions go to hand picked individuals with not enough experience, significant senior management turnover.

      Director

      Business Outlook

      Pros

Life balance was fair, and benefits were good. Corporate offices were in a beautiful setting and easy to get to.

      Cons

Management was fragmented and often changed direction with out giving strategy a chance to evolve. New senior management came in and that was worse as the CEO thought he was a gift to the company and often degraded his leadership staff openly.
