    Pros

Fun, young group of people with interesting different backgrounds. You get to learn the energy business really quick, as you have endless resources in terms of people and various tools.

    Cons

The company will squeeze everything out of you. You end up working in excess of 10-11 hrs/day and often weekends. Most analysts have to write a daily report, which involves waking up at 4:30-5am every morning, so it can be posted before the market opens, and even if you are not an analyst there are still some rotations that will require you to wake up at 5am , or be in the office at 6am.
Compensation is ok, but it really depends on your prior experience.

    Advice to Management

Recognize employees for their hard work.
    Communicate company's strategy and direction.

    Pros

Great exposure to the energy industry. As an analyst, you have some of the best tools available to learn about the oil and gas markets. Great place to start a career in the industry

    Cons

Stressful work environment and long hours without adequate compensation. The pay is lower than industry standards.

I have been working at Bentek Energy Consulting full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    1) Good people and fun environment. The company plans fun social events very regularly.
    2) Bentek will teach you many skills within the energy field. Public speaking and building unique datasets. If you're looking to break into the energy market than Bentek is a definite plus on your resume. You'll also have many opportunities to work with the energy giants in the industry and make a name for yourself.
    3) Management is pretty hands off. They let you have a lot of control of your own reports rather than micro manage.

    Cons

    1) Work-life balance - Natural gas team is up early starting work from home at around 4:45 A.M. Usually work until 6:30 AM from home. In the office you'll usually work until 5:00 PM. The gas team is required to write a daily and weekly report and in some cases a monthly report. Also required to contribute to company wide reports. Also required to assist with consulting projects as well as answer customer questions. On top of that, there are several weekly meetings. It becomes very difficult to balance all of your day-to-day tasks.
    2) Salary - it's widely known that the observer group doesn't get paid as much. Bentek pays well below market value because they have a big team of analysts. They seem to be hiring more and more recent graduates because it's cheaper than experience analysts.
    3) Turnover rate is high. With the workload and the low salary turnover is pretty high. Most analysts within the observer group stay with the company between 2 years and 3 years.

    Advice to Management

Do something about the turnover rate. It's impacting business and employee moral.

    Pros

BENTEK is a team of highly motivated professionals delivering mission-critical information and decision tools to the energy industry. This is an opportunity to work in a rapidly growing market.

    Cons

No sleep, some fun, mostly hard work. Work hours 5:00 am - 5:00 pm. No sleep, some fun, mostly hard work.

    Advice to Management

You’re stressed out at work. Too much to do, too little time, yada, yada, yada. A lot of this is just common sense like your mama taught you. But hey, we all need reminders when we’re too busy to remember.

I worked at Bentek Energy Consulting full-time

    Pros

Working with smart, dedicated people. You'll have access to much of the industry, which means opportunities down the road (though not so much internally), and the work itself is interesting.

    Cons

BENTEK is extremely understaffed so you had better be a workaholic to enjoy the culture. As mentioned in a previous review, in some roles, your minimum working hours are from 5am-5pm, but regularly extend beyond that. Comp is not at all appropriate for the work you do and the hours you put in, and it is significantly below what you would see elsewhere in the industry. Management is either absent or punitive in addressing employee concerns.

    Advice to Management

Your employees are people, not line items on a budget - treat them accordingly. That means being upfront about working hours, coming more in line with industry standards for compensation (especially when you take into account how many hours you expect people work) and instead of commanding staff to have more fun at work, actually make it possible for them to do that.
