I worked at Berger Transfer & Storage full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Company has great people working for them throughout the compnay

    Cons

Micro managers, concentrates on the negatives and not positives. Was once told that I did not have a choice to handle a project, by a VP. Needless to say I always have a choice and chose to leave them, because of this type of attitude.

    Advice to Management

Look at the good not the bad

    Pros

    Great Benefits
Not boring, always something new happening
    Employee's are great

    Cons

    Pay is ok
Difficult to discuss to Management needs to have a great Safety Dept.
Not a good idea unless Management comes up with the idea
    A mans world

    Advice to Management

Hire individuals with a strong Transportation Safety background so the company is seen as a safe company. Words on paper do not mean anything unless you have the people that can carry out the task.

    Pros

Berger is a good place to start a career and learn the basics.

    Cons

Pay is not competitive. You will not make anywhere close to the same position in other companies. Men will always do better at this company.

    Advice to Management

Treat everyone the same when it comes to pay. Pay people for the job they do.

    Doesn't Recommend
    Disapproves of CEO

I worked at Berger Transfer & Storage full-time

    Pros

Established, family owned, long tenure--not necessarily in a good way, largest Allied Moving franchise, locations in many areas of the country.

    Cons

Still does most things the old fashion way. You have to work there for 20 years before you are part of the "in-group".

I have been working at Berger Transfer & Storage full-time

    Pros

I enjoy my coworkers and the challenges the job presents. Learn something new everyday and the benefits are good.

    Cons

Management tends to micromanage everything you do. Constantly only points out negatives and rarely tells you good job. The training is on the job and doesn't teach you much; have to figure everything out on your own.

    Advice to Management

Be more positive, stop nit picking, just because someone does something a different way doesn't make it wrong.

I have been working at Berger Transfer & Storage full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Very fast paced working environment. I learn something new every day. Not a dull moment.

    Cons

Summer is the busiest season so there are not breaks and lots of late days. No training, all on the job training, learning as you go.

    Pros

Berger is a great Company takes care of it's employees

    Cons

Owners seem to have there eyes closed as to whats going on in there separate divisions. They take length of employment over dedication to the company.

    Advice to Management

look into all terminations, ask why if the performance has been exemplary why are they being terminated.

    Pros

At Berger, you get to know all of your coworkers very well, including from other departments. Berger has a very friendly and open atmosphere for it's employees. If you need assistance from another department you can walk right up and ask for it on a first name basis. From my experience, they are very good at promoting proffesional develpment and offer assistance to help employees expand their knowledge of their chosen field.

    Cons

As with any smaller company, there is limited room for career advancement. For example, my department had six or seven people in it. Each person had a specific duty, and while we did cross train, there wasn't really room to move into a different position from the one I started in, without someone else leaving their position to create an opening.

    Advice to Management
