I have been working at Berkadia full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Nice, open minded, professional people working here with the right attitude towards change, responsibility, ownership and support. Good potential and support for career growth as well as stability.

    Cons

The company is currently transitioning towards agile methodologies, this comes with some growing pain. Nothing unusual, but sometimes the precise mission lacks a little bit of communication and transparency.

    Advice to Management

    Keep up the good work.

I worked at Berkadia full-time for more than 10 years

      Pros

      Healthcare benefits and 401K match

      Cons

This is a company that literally eats its young. As others have said, pay is terrible, bonuses are arbitrary and career paths within ALL sales support functions are effectively non-existent. Executives pay lip service to employees, but only care about producers. If you are generating “sufficient” fee income you can literally get away with just about any malfeasance. Work life balance is unheard of and goes unmentioned....

      Advice to Management

Open your eyes. Pay attention to what your producers are doing that’s a tarnish on the company, the industry and the perceived professionalism of mortgage banking and investment sales. You have managed to take what should be a fairly straightforward business and unnecessarily layer and complicate it. Focus on morality and ethics!

I worked at Berkadia full-time for more than 10 years

      Pros

Great benefits and the pay is above average

      Cons

No communication from upper management, HR is only there to protect the company. The company grew too fast and corporate can’t keep up, there is no real connect to the satellite offices and therefore no real oversight on how branches are managed. If you are under a bad boss then you really have no recourse.

      Advice to Management

Learn more about what your “bosses” are doing and how they manage their people.

      Pros

Well capitalized, nimble, focused on people

I have been working at Berkadia full-time

      Pros

You get to work with some outstanding people. There are a lot of very smart, very innovative people at the lower levels. Snacks and drinks are provided. You are rarely expected to put in more than 40 hours in a week. Very flexible work hours. Motorized desks. Private company means no high pressure for things like quarterly earnings.

      Cons

Pay levels are below industry average. The only way to increase pay is by getting moved to a higher position, for which there are no guidelines. Depending on your team, you might not get much mentorship if you are a junior or mid-level developer. Lots of closed-door management meetings that result in frustrated people but no transparency as to what the meetings entail. Change is very slow. Don't believe when they say...

      Advice to Management

First, be transparent. We see our leaders getting frustrated. We know these conversations are happening. Trying to guess at what is going on behind closed doors doesn't help morale and production. Second, allow engineers to engineer. Be more open to exploring new paths in technology. Let the engineers solve problems rather than implement pre-determined features. Provide better mentoring to lower level employees. Be clear...

      Pros

Great staff at the time I was there. Surrounded by knowledgeable and friendly people who worked as a team.

      Cons

Upper management and corporate, for the most part, were not very in touch with project managers and other admin as far as communication and respect.

      Advice to Management

Please encourage brokers to treat the entire staff with respect. A broker is not above any other employee. Fostering a team attitude with mutual and equal respect would go a long way.

I worked at Berkadia full-time for more than 3 years

      Pros

Good company to retire at. Good benefits.

      Cons

Not the best place for someone looking to develop skills and advance their career. Slow progression in terms of promotions, learning and development, pay, technology and skills. Great job to finish out your career in the final stage leading up to retirement.

      Advice to Management

Amazon warehouse jobs pay more then what I made here as an analyst.
